The “Verbally Disastrous” Season #1 Reflection
On February 05, 2021, I launched my podcast entitled, “The Verbally Disastrous Podcast With Leslie & Melissa“, on +20 podcast platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pandora Podcasts, I Heart Radio, and YouTube. I chat either solo, with special guests, and occasionally with my very close friend, Melissa. Melissa and I have been friends for more than 14 years and counting. We have very similar ways of thinking, ambitions, and our sense of humor. I intend to continue having other interesting guests on the program as well. I have learning how to navigate through this new podcast process- a technological challenge that both Melissa and I have powered through to accomplish feats such as being added to Apple Podcasts. I think I am getting better with the whole technology thing within the past five to seven years. I don’t scream, cry, and thrash around as much as I used to in a rage of frustration while trying to figure things out. I thank the tech gods for YouTube tutorials! How the hell I managed life before YouTube tutorials is beyond me!?! My lifelong career has taught me to learn, via watching others, so tutorials are key.
I like to be creative and come up with humorous things. I had to survive in my career by thinking on the fly and spewing out a sharp retort to some random asshole on the jobsite. Coming up with the podcast title only took me a few moments. After some momentary (say 10-20 min.) soul searching, I came up with the title Verbally Disastrous and thought it was funny so I ran with it. I am really counting on the podcast title not previously existing. To my understanding, no one else has the title since I think it is unique. In the past year, I have registered the podcast with the U.S. Copyright Office with no conflict. I am also registering it, much like my book #ConstructionTales, with the Writer’s Guild Of America. The whole reason I initially started blogging was solely for my book #ConstructionTales that I had written and was compelled to market it relentlessly upon release. I now write blog posts that have an audio version that can be heard globally on +20 podcast platforms as an electronic audio podcast.
I wrote a book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey to Become an Electrician” on Amazon. The book goes by the hashtag #ConstructionTales when I market the book. My edited teen version is entitled, Construction Tales: A Young Person’s Guide to Accomplish Anything in Life. I have been shamelessly whoring out the book since the Amazon launch in 2013. I may have pissed some people off via abusing the hashtags on Twitter- I apologize for my aggressive behavior (sort of). I am tickled when I hear random stories that other people know it exists. As the title suggests, I wrote about my apprentice years as a young electrician in New York in the mid 1990’s. I bring a unique and often humorous perspective that is based upon my experiences. I wanted to share my journey since few of us have written about the journey. I map my interactions with my peers and showcase their unique personalities that are on display on the job for all of us to see. I’m thrilled to announce that my first children’s book entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” went live on Amazon, in both paperback and Kindle, on March 15, 2022. Additionally, the e-book is also now live in 51 countries on iTunes as of March 27, 2022. I must give fair warning that Not All Girls Play With Dolls is also a Nook version that is missing the illustrations at Barnes & Noble; it is a “words-only” e-book. This wonderful, empowering children’s book was illustrated by Anastasia Taranenko who hails from Russia.
My goal is for my podcast to be funny, unique, interesting, and to serve as a guide to learn and grow mutually with all that I discuss topics with on the podcast. Another goal is to come up with some topics to focus on for our podcast that have not been previously talked about in other platforms. I have enticed my sons, Tom and Johnny, onto the podcast to discuss things on the show. We end up having very interesting chats between all of us. I have even had some fellow union Local #3 NYC electricians come on the show and talk shit with me. I am looking forward to even more of those episodes. Please join me on the podcast platform of your choice and let me know the good, bad, and the ugly so I can learn, grow, and evolve. For Season #1, we have 45 podcast episodes loaded to +20 different platforms so go and check them out. Season #1 was kicked off with S1, E1: Lot Lizard and ended with S1, E45: Part C- Tramping In Cali! Season #2 has been kicked off with the release of S2, E46: Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice to start off the 2022 year.
I am done chewing off your ear-for now. Have a great day and speak with you soon!
Cheers!
