Advice: Meanings Behind The Gift That Keeps Giving & Overtaking A Vehicle

Hello Everyone!

I’m looking forward more and more to the end of the work week!! Why do I like the weekends so damn much?? For one, I like to dodge the extremely warm and humid days at work. My second reason would be so that I can spend quality time with my beau. Another amazing benefit would be spending time with my sons plus the bonus of sleeping in!! How’s life going for you on your side of the globe today, my friend? I indeed wish nothing but an amazing day for you that’s filled with joy and accomplishments today. Before you get into today’s random Quora topics, allow me to share my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. Additionally, I’m also sharing my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. It’s now time to dive into today’s duel advice blog post, courtesy of Quora, for your review at your leisure. This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “the gift that keeps on giving”. Of course, my dirty construction worker mind went right into the dirtiest scenario that you could possibly think of today. If you are a regular reader of my blog posts, you should totally expect this from me. If you are new and find yourself clutching the pearls, sorry for the filthy visual that I’m about to present to you. I don’t even want to say what it is since I like mental surprises. 🙂 As you can gather, I’m not a prim and proper broad over here on this blog post. I tend to say what’s on my mind minus the filter around here. I’m also open to hearing what is on your mind as well. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “to overtake a vehicle”. As with yesterday’s selection of blog topics, there are a few powerful meanings behind that phrase. I didn’t get down and dirty with that one. However, I did think about a few ways to view the coin. It’s time to slide right into the Quora discussion pool by reading both the questions and my responses down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What is the meaning of the phrase “the gift that keeps on giving”?”

By Rose Anne Campbell

MY RESPONSE #1:

“I interpret this phrase as a gift that continues to benefit a person long after the initial appearance of the actual gift itself. These benefits could be a stream of income, happiness, a sense of safety and security, great memories, companionship, or other fringe benefits. An example of a gift that keeps on giving would be being gifted with real estate on the beach. It’s already a gift to get the property on the beach. The ability to rent out the property as rental income would be a secondary gift of the initial gift. Another benefit would be to be able to make great memories with your family members. Yes, I’m aware that only rich people do stuff like this. 😛 This phrase can also represent a form of sarcasm as well. As a seasoned construction worker, I’ve become accustomed to being proficient in sarcasm. My sarcastic example would be when a person receives a sexually transmitted disease, such as herpes. Saying that herpes is a gift is total sarcasm. The part where it keeps giving is when you can never get rid of it and how it can keep randomly popping up to make the person infected miserable. Yes, I’m aware that no one would be happy to have a random break out of herpes. 😛 Hence, the total sarcasm. May you have much luck and success on your life path and avoid the pitfalls that can occur along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What is the meaning of “to overtake a vehicle”?”

By Naeimeh Tavakolinia

MY RESPONSE #2:

“I think of a few interpretations of this phrase. The first one that comes to mind is that the minute you get in the driver’s seat and start the car, you are overtaking the vehicle. This is because you are taking control of the operation of the vehicle. In the event of a car jacking, a thief puts a gun to an innocent driver’s head. The thief either demands them to get out of the car or sit in the passenger seat while they take over the vehicle. The goal is to get away from a crime scene or just take ownership of the vehicle. Another interpretation of the phrase is when the vehicle has a major issue, such as a tire blow out, and the vehicle is attempting to go off the road. The driver of the vehicle must hold onto the steering wheel with full force in order to maintain control of the vehicle. During this moment of impact, the driver is attempting to overtake the vehicle. May you have the best luck with your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: Meaning Behind Outliving Retirement & Meeting My Mother To Understand

Hello Everyone!

Guess what folks!!??!! We are heading towards another end of a work week!! Hooray for another upcoming weekend!! We have had another week that has been extremely warm and humid here in New York City. I’m sure by now you are not surprised to hear that. 🙂 How’s life on your side of the globe today, my friend? Hopefully, you have another amazing weekend planned out with your beloved friends and/or family?? Thanks for stopping by so I can reveal even more Quora topics with you. But first, allow me to share my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. Additionally, I’m also sharing my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, it’s time to reveal another two-dose advice blog post, courtesy of Quora, for your reading pleasure. This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “you might outlive your retirement income”. I’m not under the impression that the average person, no matter where you are in the globe, even remotely considers retirement. The average person is just surviving, for their entire life, to get through the “now” never mind the “future” that may never come. If it wasn’t for joining the union as a 20-year old kid, I probably would not have thought about retirement at a young age otherwise. As a young widow/single mother, I barely had enough cash to get from week to week. Therefore, none of what I have to say is intended to dig into anyone since I totally get it. I opted to take a stab at the question since it’s thought provoking. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “if you met my mother you would understand”. There are a few powerful meanings behind that phrase. Without totally giving away the store, go dive right into these two Quora discussions by reading both the questions and my responses that follow it down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does this mean, ‘you might outlive your retirement income’?”

By Monk Am

MY RESPONSE #1:

“People here in the U.S. have different approaches to retirement. Some solely rely on Social Security. Meanwhile, others rely upon a company retirement plan. Some people buy real estate and hope to rely on either the proceeds of the sale or income from rental rental property. There are some people who really plan on their retirement. The average age of retirement here in the United States is around 62-years old. The average life expectancy here in the United States is 78.79 years. If you have at least saved up $50k per year for retirement, you ideally should have saved $800,000 for retirement. This means if you live to age 90-years old, you may not have enough savings to preserve your way of life if you didn’t save up enough of your retirement funds. The average person collects $1,536.94 from Social Security after working for roughly 40-years here in the United States for their retirement. With the average cost of living, that amount would be just enough to cover the rent and no other expenses. This makes it incredibly difficult to save money or manage emergency expenses. The worst thought to me would be to become homeless and live on the streets in a tent. The sad thing is that the average American wings their entire retirement and does absolutely no planning. May you figure out how to live life in the most cost-effective manner possible and live a long life. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What does someone mean by “if you met my mother you would understand”?”

By Barbara Young Capalbo

MY RESPONSE #2:

“We learn and earn each of our behaviors from our parents as well as other family members. The first 5-years of life form a person’s personality. Siblings have their own dynamics that contribute to a person’s behavioral patterns as well. Being able to witness the parent-child dynamics does help tremendously with understanding how a person behaves in a particular manner. A person’s relationship with their parents is very telling. A parent may have their own behavior that can only be properly explained by spending time watching them. You may wonder why your partner has a big spending habit. It makes sense since they learned how to spend money from either parent. Once you learn a behavior, it’s hard to break that pattern of behavior without a tremendous amount of consciously thinking about changing the behavior. Once you get to an older age, it’s rather hard to learn new tricks. It’s nearly impossible if the person is not willing to change their habits. May you have good luck and much success along your life path! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: Wearing A Mask & Understanding The Function Of What Is Said

Hello Everyone!

We made it to the end of another work week my friend and in the middle of enjoying another weekend!! The best part is that I’m in the midst of a 3-day 4th Of July holiday weekend! This past week has been extremely warm and humid here in New York City. How is life going for you on your side of the globe? May you have a great weekend with your beloved friends and/or family. I thank you for stopping by so I can reveal even more Quora topics with you. This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “I didn’t ask for your mask”. I believe that people wear masks both intentionally and un-intentionally. It totally makes sense to not share your quirky behavior in front of your boss and co-workers. The office is no place to let your hair down and behave as you would on your days off. It’s when person’s behavior totally deviates from their normal way of being is where I have an issue with it. Not being your authentic self or behaving fake is grounds for the eye roll or side eye of scrutiny. I realize that being fake is a common practice in society. There are many who embrace that lifestyle. Of course you can do what you want. I also don’t have to like, tolerate, trust, or respect your web of lies. What are your thoughts on fake personas? How do you deal with them? I study them from afar and move accordingly. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “understanding the function of what is said”. I went straight snarky with the example for the second question and response. By all means, share your thoughts on these two advice posts. Let’s head right into these two Quora discussions by reading both the questions and my responses that follow it down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does it mean when someone says “I didn’t ask for your mask”?”

By Leonie Auret

MY RESPONSE #1:

“My interpretation of that phrase means that the person speaking is under an impression that the other party is not being their authentic self. The person is essentially calling out the mask wearer on the carpet and exposing their inconsistent behavior. I know many people who believe that the average person wears a mask according to what task they are working on and who they are interacting with at the moment. When amongst co-workers, a person will wear a mask that is professional, courteous, and strictly business. When amongst a person’s parents, they are polite, respectful, and family oriented. During a night out on the town with the boys, the mask used may most represent the person’s authentic self. It’s not necessarily a bad thing when a person wears different masks while in different environments. Mask wearing happens since each environment can be very different with varying behavioral requirements. The parents may very well not want to see the authentic, wild side of their child. Out of respect for the parents, the wild and crazy side has a lid temporarily on it while in their presence. Additionally, it isn’t wise to completely let your hair down while in front of your boss and co-workers. Twerking on the boss during the company Christmas party is not well advised. The part where wearing a mask is disgusting is when you are in the presence of someone you genuinely can’t stand yet pretend that they are your best friend. It’s understandable if a person has to keep the peace with a co-worker for the sake of keeping their job. Just don’t put on a façade that leads your enemy to think you are their best friend. Then again, you are free to move as you wish. Others witnessing those fake moves in the office are looking at you with the side eye. This is exactly why I fully respect the straight shooter person who is missing a filter and is absolutely rough around the edges with their delivery. They are honest regardless of the environment and give zero fux about how the average person will receive the data that flows like wine off of their lips. It is also believed that a couple who are in a brand-new relationship are each wearing a mask. This mask is put on in an effort to look the most appealing to each other. Over time, you see the cracks in the mask as the real personality accidentally slips through the cracks at various moments. There is a point where the couple can each decide if they can tolerate what they have seen slip through. I don’t think everyone intentionally puts on the new relationship mask. It is just human nature to a best representative of yourself. It’s a matter of time as to how far a person’s mask truly deviates from reality. It is bad is when the person is totally acting way out of character of their authentic self to where they become unrecognizable for people who have known them for years without the mask. At the end of the day, we have to be willing to own anything that gets exposed. I believe that it’s important to be able to own each and every thing you do. I’m a fan of knowing when and where to behave since that is smart and strategic. Just don’t veer off too far from your true self. You don’t have to apologize if the mask is indeed the authentic you. We are all human and susceptible to making mistakes. May you not be negatively impacted by the mask that another person is wearing. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What does “understanding the function of what is said” mean? What is an example?”

By Ibrahim

MY RESPONSE #2:

“My interpretation of the phrase would immediately first reference the “function” word in the phrase. The word function in this phrase means what is the purpose of understanding what was said. In layman’s terms, what is the reason as to why a person communicates a message? Does the person have a motive behind their communication? Figuring out the motive helps to understand the objective behind what was spoken. Rarely does a person speak without a purpose. The purpose can come from a wide variety of reasons. Hopefully, you are not being taken advantage of ever. May you have good luck on your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls EDIT– I initially opted to break down the meaning without an example. At the time, I didn’t have an example. Here is my attempt at an example: “Maybe some day you will get a great husband like mine”. What’s the point of saying that to another person? It’s a passive aggressive sentence intended to point out what a person is lacking while the other has an abundance. The function of the phrase can be intended to make the other person lacking a husband jealous.”

Advice: *Trigger Alert!* Vulgar Construction Worker Phrase’s Meaning Being Shared

Hello Everyone!

How is the middle of the week working out for you on your side of the globe on this fine day? This week has been extremely warm and humid here in New York City. Monday was extra swampy with humidity and thunderstorms. You know those days when you sweat if you bother to wear a raincoat. I just take the hit and walk in the rain since wearing a raincoat and sweating will not work Thanks for stopping by so I can share more random Quora advice posts with you. But first, I’m sharing my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. I’m also sharing my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, I’m offering you another double dose of Quora advice for your review. This first piece of advice is on sharing a vulgar and aggressive way of saying, “now you have an egg on your face” in English. I thought of something funny that I heard at work years ago. Of course, if the timing is right, I would open fire and repeat the phrase. Sadly, I have not found a prime moment to utter the phrase as of late. I made sure to let the reader know that this phrase would be saved for unique occasions. To my surprise, a meme was made from that phrase. For those who I made blush, I apologize. For those of you who laughed, you’re quite welcome. I’m assuming that I do not have fragile flowers reading my content. However, I’m okay with being totally wrong on this assumption. If that’s the case, it was great while it lasted. I do tend to say phrases that my co-workers have never heard of before. I totally appreciate the laugh and surprised look on their faces. While writing this blog, I told my co-worker the vulgar phrase from this blog post. As expected, he laughed and said he had never heard it before. For the second round of advice, I’m looking for the meaning behind the phrase, “understanding the function of what is said”. Yes, this one is by far more boring but sharing it anyway. Let’s get right straight into these individual discussions by reading both the questions and my responses that follow it down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What is the vulgar and aggressive ways of saying “now you have an egg on your face” in English? I want the kind of vulgar way of saying this idiom that hooligans say when they argue with each other.”

By Rob

MY RESPONSE #1:

“I’m a construction worker for over 25-years now. We often come to the jobsite with plenty of sarcasm and one-liners. A sharp tongue firing an amazing retort will stop others dead in their tracks. A vulgar and aggressive way of calling a person a fool- “the best part of you dripped down your momma’s leg”. For the folks who do not understand the phrase, it is referring to the sperm that didn’t fertilize the egg that created you. I wouldn’t recommend using the phrase if the person is not capable of taking a joke. Exercise caution when slinging insults back and forth. Some indeed sting more than others. Best of luck! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls

EDIT: I didn’t offer an example since the person has to be a real prick in order for me to say the phrase. I would have to be in the middle of an exchange where the person is insulting me while I don’t think he is the sharpest tool in the shed. This phrase should be saved for emergencies.”

Advice: Yes Versus No Analysis & “Coming Down With Something” Meaning

Hello Everyone!

How was your weekend on your side of the globe, my pal?? It was rather hot and humid on my side of the globe this past weekend. I missed out on the Pride Parade that went down yesterday. After being in the sun all week for work, I’d rather chill out on my day off. Therefore, I laid low and stayed near the air conditioner. I did get to accomplish some tasks in the process of staying near the cool air. I’m honored to be able to share with you my random Quora blog posts. I’m also honored to be sharing with you my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. I’m also sharing my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, I’m offering you another double dose of Quora advice for your review. This first piece of advice is my take regarding the topic of saying “yes” as opposed to saying “no” plus an explanation. When you have to offer an explanation, it better be logically sound and you need to be prepared to hold your ground and maintain your position. That form of preparation can potentially be mentally taxing. Regardless of the level of preparedness that may be required, hold your ground and firmly offer your position. Some things are totally worth fighting for in life. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “I may be coming down with something”. If you think you are getting sick, the odds are pretty high that this is actually the case. I did respond to a question but it temporarily disappeared. It will pop up later when the moderator of the forum approves my response. Therefore, the second blog post was not my intended one to share. I shall call it my “back-up dancer” advice question so to speak. I’d like to hear your unique take on today’s chosen topics. I always welcome another way to view a situation. Let’s review these individual discussions by checking out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“Why, during times of stress and grief, might it be easier to say yes to something than explain why you’re saying no?”

By Jayantilal Patel

MY RESPONSE #1:

“Oftentimes, it’s easier to just say yes when you are afraid to speak up. Now, why do you fear speaking up? Perhaps you don’t want to hear the other person’s mouth after using your voice? The other person is about to add even more stress and grief to an already intense situation. If you are super stressed out or experiencing major grief, it’s hard to even think properly. For the sake of simplicity, it could be less stressful to just agree and figure out how to proceed at a later date. It’s hard to please people under normal conditions. Saying yes can hold off a rather dramatic conversation if the two parties do not agree to the terms and conditions. Holding off can give you time to properly re-group and think about your future approach when the time is ready for the discussion. Once you have your approach down, then it’s time to reveal your position. It’s better to be well rested in order to tackle the expected pushback. More rest aids with also having more patience in future conversations. May you have good luck and much success along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What is the meaning of “I may be coming down with something”?”

By Naeimeh Tavakolinia

MY RESPONSE #2:

“That phrase means that you are getting this overwhelming sick feeling that overtakes the body. This sick feeling is an indicator of you not feeling your normal self. In the early stages of being sick, you feel the initial symptoms come on. You’re essentially identifying those early symptoms since they predict what’s coming next. We typically get fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, etc. in the very beginning. The initial symptoms somewhat let you know how long and intense the illness will be. Arm yourself with plenty of water and rest in order to get past the sickness. May your illness be short in duration and not very intense. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

I recently shared my latest short story that has been loaded up to my Construction Tales-Told By A Woman Kindle Vella Library on Amazon. This is short story #11 entitled, “Juggling Motherhood & Working With The Tools”. This short story covers my life as a widowed, single mother in the era when I juggled both motherhood and my career as a journeywoman electrician. I share the various challenges I faced and lessons learned along the way. The previous short story is entitled: #10: “Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice”. I decided to write about some life lessons such as guarding your personal information, managing nasty rumors, combating sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism. Overall, the construction culture has improved dramatically over the past 25-years. Developing both a thick skin and a sharp tongue are key tools needed to survive various jobsite antics. I hope you learn something from this short story. There are more to come. These short stories are now also available as Verbally Disastrous podcast episodes.

Advice: Meaning On “3 Sheets To The Wind” & “X Walked So Y Could Run”

Hello Everyone!

How is hump day going for you on your side of the globe today my friend?? I’m coming at you with some more Quora advice. Before you feast your eyes on my reading material, I’m sharing with you my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, I’m delivering yet another double dose of Quora advice for your reading pleasure. This first piece of advice is my thoughts on the phrase, “3 sheets to the wind”. Any time I heard this phrase used, it is usually referring to a person who is absolutely loaded on drugs and/or alcohol. One of my favorite pastimes is getting tuned up and becoming three sheets to the wind. I didn’t realize the significance behind the phrase. I totally appreciated learning about it when I looked it up. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “X walked so Y could run”. I totally think about pioneers in a field as being the X component and those who follow in their footsteps as the Y component. Feel free to share an alternate take on the chosen topics. I always welcome another way to view a situation. Let’s review these individual discussions by checking out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What is the meaning of the phrase “3 sheets to the wind” or if someone says to you “you look like you’re 3 sheets to a wind”?”

By Rose Anne Campbell

MY RESPONSE #1:

“The ‘sheet’ in the phrase, “3 sheets to the wind” uses the nautical meaning of a rope that controls the trim of sail. If a sheet is loose, the sail flaps and doesn’t provide control for the ship. Having several sheets loose “to the wind” could cause the ship to rock about drunkenly. The word “sheet” actually comes from an Old English term for the corner of a sail. The sheets were as vital in the days of three-masted square-rigged sea-going ships as they are today, since they trim the sail to the wind. If they run loose, the sail flutters about in the wind and the ship wallows off its course out of control. It appears that this phrase is super old; back when people explored the world, via a ship. I have always interpreted the phrase to mean that a person is absolutely out of their mind. This mental status could be influenced by drugs, alcohol, or any other unusual state of mind. After doing some research and sharing it with you, I see that I’m not far off with my perception. Be careful when you choose to put yourself in a “3 sheets to the wind” status. I wish you much luck along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What does “X walked so Y could run” mean?”

By Emirey Jackson

MY RESPONSE #2:

“My interpretation of that phrase is that “X” is the pioneer in the scenario. The “Y” character followed “X’s” lead. Therefore, because “X” paved the way, “Y” is able to move through at a much faster pace. This is why “Y” is running. Would “Y” have been able to even walk if “X” had not lead the way?? I wish you much luck on your life path. Cheers! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: Discussing “Fictosexual” & “A Chip On Your Shoulder” Phrase

Hello Everyone!

We’ve reached yet another hump day here on the streets of New York City. How is life on your side of the globe today, my friend?? I honestly had an amazing 3-day holiday weekend. I observed the relatively new holiday Juneteenth this past Monday. I went to Atlantic City and won a lil bit of money at the casino. It was great to also spend quality time with a new important man in my life. Upon this discovery, I have won way more than what can be offered in a casino. Before I flash you with my reading material, I’m sharing with you my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, I’m delivering yet another double dose of Quora advice for your reading pleasure. This first piece of advice is my thoughts on the term “fictosexual”. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “a chip on your shoulder”. This phrase originated in the United States during the early 19th century. I’m actually blown away that this was an actual practice many decades ago. I totally imagine some angry kid on the playground with his sleeves rolled up, brows furrowed, and looking for a challenger. I’m glad I tend to dispel my anger since I don’t want to linger in it. I understand the frustration for those who choose/can’t let it go. Now is it a choice to not let anger go? I tend to think it is a choice. It takes a lot of time and patience to let the anger go and heal. Feel free to share your position on the chosen topics. Let’s review these discussions by checking out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does it mean to be fictosexuals?”

By Marcelo Philippe

MY RESPONSE #1:

“A fictosexual is a person who has no interest in romantically pursuing a real-life human. Instead, they are exclusively attracted to and aroused by imaginary creations. Many people even going as far as marrying their made-up mates. I’ve seen this type of behavior on television on a show entitled, “My Strange Addiction”. On the surface, it sounds like it couldn’t possibly be even remotely true. What normal person would unapologetically do this while having others see that behavior? In the midst of social media, these platforms attract people from all walks of life. These people are not ashamed of doing what suits them. These different types of people must have all endured different types of life experiences. These life experiences could have been traumatic in nature. It would make sense for a traumatized person to avoid relationships with people. It would be totally logical for a person to carry on a relationship with an inanimate object. After all, there would be a zero percent chance of getting emotionally or physically harmed by an inanimate object. Your anime doll will not harm or leave you for someone else. You are not subjected to domestic violence from a stuffed animal. The relationship would be totally safe and sound. I’ve seen people marry their cars, imaginary people, and even stuffed animals. They are protecting themselves from the pitfalls of even further emotional trauma by not having a relationship with a human at all. I have compassion for people who go against the grain of society and do what works for them to protect their mind and heart. May you have much luck on your life path while experiencing the least amount of trauma as possible. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What is the meaning and origin of the phrase “a chip on your shoulder”?”

By Rose Anne Campbell

MY RESPONSE #2:

“My knee-jerk interpretation of this idiom is that a person is rather edgy in nature and rather quick to snap at any moment. Let’s look up the definition in an online dictionary. According to the village elders, to have “a chip on your shoulder” means a deeply ingrained grievance or feeling of resentment, often deriving from a sense of inferiority and marked by aggressive behavior. The saying originated during the 19th century in the United States, where people wanting a physical fight would carry a chip of wood on their shoulder, daring others to knock it off. I’ve totally learned something new today. I never knew that boys used to place an actual chip on their shoulder as a challenge for others to knock it off. I’m blown away that the phrase is based upon real behavior! I cannot imagine doing that in order to invite random confrontation. I don’t have enough built up angst, even in my darkest days, on my life path to facilitate a need for this drama. I’m thankful that I don’t carry that vibe on my soul. I let bad things go since I want constant peace within my energy field. I also desire to have and maintain peace within my inner circle. You cannot have peace if you carry the burden of anger. This requires solitude and some time to heal your emotional wounds. May you have great luck and find solace along your life path! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: How Is Trust Just Like Glass??

Hello Everyone!

It’s a warm and humid hump day (cue the insurance commercial camel’s voice) here on the streets of New York City. How is your week going on your side of the globe today?? I’m writing posts in doses in between walking the jobsite!! I’m sweating a lot and drinking a lot of water during the day. I’m always trolling the Quora topics in order to share with you some thought provoking topics. Before I share what I dug up for you to read, I’m sharing with you my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, let’s get back to sharing this double dose of Quora advice with you. This first piece of advice is my thoughts on this phase in my life where, “what is that phrase that marked your life?” I personally think that the person who posed the question meant to say “phase” and not “phrase”. Your second dose of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “trust is like a glass, once it’s broken, then it cannot be repaired”. Trust is absolutely vital in a relationship. Once you lose it, it’s hard to earn it back. Not having an established trusting foundation makes a new relationship shaky. New relationships are very hard to navigate. I’m actively trying to embark on a new relationship as we speak. New can be both exciting and daunting. You cannot control the behavior of the other person. You can only control what you allow in your life and your own behavior. Are future bad encounters your fault if trust is broken yet you continue on with the relationship? On the other hand, should we run at the first breach of trust? Go ahead and share your input down in the comment section down below. Start this discussion by checking out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What is that phrase that marked your life?”

By Adrián Guerra García

MY RESPONSE #1:

“The phrase/phase that marked my life was becoming a young widow. I got married at 18-years old. My husband died a few years later in an accident. The loss of my husband and the father of my son had a huge impact on our lives! I went from being the supportive wife with an entry level job into being forced to become an independent single mother with multiple jobs. The fear of the unknown future was absolutely terrifying! You must either fight or give up. I chose to fight and find my own way. Once you find your own footing and make your own way in life, it is extremely hard to ever go back to the way I was before the tragedy. Becoming a widow changed the fiber of who I am as a woman. My son longed for a father as a child. Watching him struggle with no father was hard to watch over the years. I had to hold back from expressing those strong emotions of loss and that desire to quit at life. I was forced to work hard for both my son and I. The strength of my character was molded from this tragedy. I know I would certainly struggle if I had a man who wanted me to fall back and become a housewife. I truly clawed my way in order to put my head above water financially. My fear of a new man in my life dying and going into a struggle again would keep me from falling back and relying on him. I now only feel comfortable making my own money and blazing my own trail. Once you have experienced this type of hardship, it’s forever changes your perception on life. May you never experience being a widow in our entire life. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“Why do they say, “trust is like a glass, once it’s broken, then it cannot be repaired”?”

By Monk AM

MY RESPONSE #2:

“Trust is absolutely just as fragile as glass. Trust requires a slow build-up of respect that evolves over a period of time. Trust is slowly earned through consistent good behavior. All it takes is one dishonest moment to ruin that network of good deeds. Sadly, life is never the same once dark deeds come to light. Only people who really want to fight for the relationship will see the heart(s) mend over time. Any new revelations will bring the relationship back to rock bottom. Trust is just as delicate, despite being rather durable, as glass. Glass looks perfect when not touched and caution is consistently exercised. If you do not consistently exercise care, glass can suddenly break without warning. Once the glass is broken, it is either impossible or extremely hard to repair. The break in the glass must be rather small in nature in order to attempt to fix it. Once repaired, if it is even possible, it requires further care to ensure there are no more further accidents. A crack in the glass, if large in size, will only grow larger in size until it breaks in half or a million pieces. Most of the time, the glass cannot be repaired and must be discarded. Depending on the breach in trust, it will forever change the dynamics of the relationship. If trust is restored, it will sure take a whole lot of time in order to get somewhat to where it once was before the problem came up. God help the parties involved if another incident happens while the trust is in a fragile state. May your glass stay in tact while it’s surrounded with bubble wrap. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: Meaning Behind Two More Phrases

Hello Everyone!

Let’s ignore the fact that we are right back to Tuesday and the middle of the work week, my friend. How was your weekend on your side of the globe today?? I had an amazing previous weekend and I am looking forward to this upcoming weekend as well!! As your buddy in your head, I’m always looking for interesting topics to speak on and share with you. Before I share some more Quora advice, I’m bring to your attention my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now it’s time to share even more custom Quora advice so you have bathroom reading material. I got you!!! 😛 This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “what am I going to do with you?” Now, for the second round of advice, the topic is on the meaning behind the phrase, “I like him but I like you better”. My knee-jerk thought would be that these phrases are obvious with their meaning. However, I’m also aware that not every phrase is uttered across the entire planet. Let’s get straight into the meat and potatoes by reading both the question and my matching advice down below. Drop your thoughts, on this bevy of chosen topics, by sharing your two cents down in the comment section down below. Go ahead and check out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does “What am I going to do with you?” mean?”

By Naeimeh Tavakolinia

MY RESPONSE #1:

“This phrase can be known as being rhetorical in nature. A rhetorical question is a question that’s asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer. Sometimes, the answer to the question is already known by one or both parties. The person is saying it to you in order to get a response. This is the part where you either give a smart ass answer or a real one. If I say it to someone, it is often delivered in a sarcastic manner. I already know what I want to do with a person. I’m looking for them to return the sarcasm my way. When I ask what I’m going to do with you, I’m trying to determine how I plan to have them become intertwined in my life. Everyone plays a role and a part in our lives. It totally depends on the person and the role that needs to be played. May you have good luck along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“”I like him but I like you better” what does it mean when someone says this to you?”

By Michael Okeke

MY RESPONSE #2:

“I believe that they are doing what is known as, “shooting your shot”. They are letting you know that they are interested in you. The person is acknowledging that they like the first person in question. However, they take the back seat since they prefer you. You either try it out or bow out gracefully. May you make the best choice! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

We made it to another find Friday folks!! Let’s use this opportunity to enjoy another summer weekend. Make your free time count and enjoy it as much as possible since life is short! The summer flies by since it is only a few months in duration. At least that is how it is here in New York City. How is life on your side of the globe today?? I wish you nothing but success and happiness! As your friend in your head, I’m always sifting the internet to look for more content to share. As I have stated before, I’m always open to topic suggestions and your feedback. Before I share the advice, I’m sharing with you my first children’s book “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. I’m now sharing even more custom Quora advice for your reading pleasure. This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind doing things for a person that are considered to either be special, normal, or hold no value. People who lack gratitude really get under my skin!!! It irritates me to see entitled people walk the Earth. What’s even worse is to see the entitled people totally abuse another person and their kindness!! No one owes you a damn thing!! If you don’t like how a person does something, do it your damn self!! I dealt with a lazy soul for many years who would critique from the couch!! I refuse to deal with a personality like that ever again and you should too! Thankfully, the second question is mild in nature. For the second round of advice, the topic is on the meaning behind the phrase, “not a big fan”. Go ahead and get right into the reading material by reciting both the question and my advice down below. Drop your thoughts, on my wide range of chosen topics, by leaving your position taken in the comment section down below. Check out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does it mean when people do something to someone and that someone sees it as special and when you do it its very normal or has no value even?”

By Willi G.m

MY RESPONSE #1:

“This boils down to a person having gratitude versus no gratitude. You should be grateful for each and every gift another person offers you. I’ve always been under the impression that no one owes me $hit!! The only person who owes me anything is myself. If anyone does anything for me, I must extend nothing less than gratitude each and every time. Because a person is going out of their way to do something for me, I always consider it special. It’s special no matter how small the gesture is. Once you start taking a person for granted and expecting them to do things for you, you will no longer see the same value in the other person’s contributions. Once the person contributing sees that they are not valued, they will either immediately or eventually step back with their efforts. Relationships fail oftentimes because one or both parties take the person for granted. The same energy offered in the beginning of a relationship is not always carried through for the duration of the relationship. It’s a damn shame if a stranger on the street gets more respect than a person closest in your social circle. Not keeping that same energy is a key reason for relationship failure. It’s always best to show gratitude for each and every chore another person takes on for your behalf. This gratitude keeps the flame burning on the torch. It’s not even good to criticize a person’s deeds either. If you don’t like how someone does something for you, then just do it yourself. After all, if you didn’t have to spend your time and/or money on the task, you should be honored that another person did it for you. I had a past relationship where I was often criticized for my good deeds. This same person rarely ever did anything for me. The solution was to tell him to no longer ask me and just do it himself. You live and learn along your life path. You end up teaching people what’s acceptable behavior anytime you accept anything less than gratitude for your kindness. May you have much luck and success on your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What is the meaning of the expression “not a big fan”?”

By Marcelo Philippe

MY RESPONSE #2:

“It can be somewhat of a softer way to let someone know that you don’t like something. A fan is short for fanatic. A fanatic is a person who is filled with excessive and single-minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious or political cause. It can also just mean that you do not have an over exaggerated feeling for a particular item. You may like a concept or even feel rather neutral about it. However, you are not “over the moon” in love with the concept. Telling a person that you are “not a big fan” could also be sarcastic in nature as well. You could be totally misleading the person on purpose as to your feelings about the item. It’s a way to not reveal exactly how you feel since you are not sure of the other person’s position. May you have much success and luck on your life path.
