Hello everyone!

I am just briefly sharing that I am working on the audio blog becoming an Apple Podcast! I just submitted it to Apple just now for review and approval. I used the Anchor website, created a profile, converted all blog posts to audio form, and attached “Listen on Spotify” icon to each post. The audio blog is now available on 5 other platforms besides Anchor. I created a podcast profile using my Apple ID credentials. I grabbed the RSS feed from the Distribution section on Anchor. I put the RSS feed onto the podcast form to validate. The audio blog popped up and you push submit. If you are an Apple Podcast person, I am working on being on there so you can listen to the blog all over the world. Let me know if you are already an author/host of an Apple Podcast and I will show my support. I have two more platforms to try to get on that is: Overcast & Castbox. The #VerballyDisastrous podcast is next to get onto Apple Podcasts. I have to figure that one out. In the meantime, you can hear the audio blog on Spotify, Anchor, Breaker, Google Podcasts, Pocket Casts, and Radio Public. Hello Everyone!

I have had some really weird dreams in my lifetime. I have had dreams that range from making waste/fecal matter pancakes, hiding in a war torn high rise building in the Middle East, standing in a hallway talking to deceased family while a rainstorm was pouring buckets of water on my head through a gap in the roof, watching in terror as a tornado rips a big white building in half while I am in one end, to some end of world zombie apocalypse. In the past week, I have had two new weird and scary dreams. Usually, the dreams are more spread out between each occurrence. It is unusual to have two weird within the span of one week. I sometimes worry about my dreams since they can sometimes foretell ahead of a bad event. I believe that the two recent dreams are just some subconscious fear that I am not aware of on a conscious level. I do tend to Google dream interpretations in order to get an idea of what my dreams mean during my awake life.

I had a dream over the weekend where I am in a location that I do not recognize and with a woman that I also do not recognize. I was walking behind this woman and she was discussing the location and giving me a tour and giving me instructions. While she was in the middle of the tour, shots rang out and she was hit multiple times. She was peaceful, calm, and rather nonchalant noticing that she was even hit. It was almost like she was aloof about being fatally hit with bullets before she collapsed. I know part of it was shock and disbelief. However, she didn’t raise her voice or show any panic whatsoever. I am standing over her in my own disbelief for a millisecond!! Thoughts were racing through my mind after the lady collapsed. Why was she shot? Were these bullets intended for someone else? Was it intended for me? Where is the gunman? Did the gunman now leave? I instantly dropped down to my knees and tried to crawl to a safe spot as fast as possible. In the dream, the scenario was rather dark in the beginning with some rays of light. When I was crawling, it felt like I was crawling towards a tunnel with a faint white light at the end. I then abruptly woke up and didn’t get to see anything further in the dream. I felt relieved that it was only a dream. Even after looking up dream interpretations, I still cannot figure out what this dream meant at it’s core.

I just woke up this morning to a second very interesting dream. A laundry list, for some damn reason, was typed up of all of my past lovers in my entire life. This past lover list was a very detailed with first and last names, nicknames, phone numbers, dates, relationship durations, and “field notes” on each relationship. This highly embarrassing and very salacious list was posted with my picture on the internet. I was contacted by a friend who had stumbled upon this distasteful list on the internet. I go to check out the list, I was absolutely mortified!! This list long and was inflated with names, data, and details that were not even true! Out of the entire dirty laundry, there was only a kernel of truth on the list! The worst part is that I was accused of some monstrosity of a whore house black list that I have not even been able to live out in real life! It made me look really ugly with my actions and I was bothered intensely by the published list of lies.

Do you know what was the worst part? I was mortified of the concept of my two sons discovering this embarrassing nugget of exaggerated filth!! I have made it my life mission to not openly parade men that I have dated in front of my sons. My sons grew up in a house where a man was only present if I believed the relationship was solid and heading towards long term or marriage. Never mind either of them ever catching the man in my bed while they were in the house!! There was a clear line in the sand with a heavy barbed wire boundary between my sons and any man I have dated. I have always firmly believed that my early dating life was super private and not meant for the eyes of my children. I became a widow very young. I didn’t date men as a means to lure in a man to sustain myself. In hindsight, I should have gone that route. It would have made my life much easier…LOL. (I am kidding) I used to work 120/hours a week for a few years after my husband died to survive and keep my home. Getting myself to a clear, healthy, mental space to date as a widow was a quite challenge for a few years of my life.

Trying to even carve out time in my old hectic multi-job single mom schedule to date was rough back in the day. I must add that I am not a “prude” or a “nun” by any means either. However, I value myself as a good women who has been respectful with my reputation as a woman. This is especially true in the eyes of my sons. My good reputation as a woman is also very important to me within the construction industry. This is where my eldest son also works and my younger son may soon follow. I can’t think of nothing worse than the thought of men on the jobsite teasing my sons via sharing dirty false rumors about me. That could be a reality if I had chosen to sleep with every man I had worked with over the years. I am very glad that I am not that kind of woman. I know humor sometimes can have no limits and can be created with great false exaggeration. I would like to think that this low, below the belt, brand of humor would not ever be displayed. However, I cannot rule it out as it would never ever happen. There are people that have no boundaries and would go very low for a laugh amongst the group. I would think you have gained an understanding as to why this dream was so wicked to me?

For the shooting dream, I looked up interpretations online in order to get a broad understanding. Based upon one source, this can mean that I am repressing some deep-seated anger towards someone. It goes on to speak on aggression and conflict in life. On the surface, I initially felt like I have no ax to grind against anyone. I then recalled that I had a brief encounter with a former manager who has managed pop up again along my path. This has caused some anxiety with illogical fear of a repetition of the past will occur in the future. The irony is if he had actually had his finger on the pulse and knew what I was actually doing back then, I could have been an asset to his team. He could have avoided suffering the future slaps to his reputation from upper management. It was a form of karma how laying me off in the middle of fixing open stuff bit him in the behind later on. Everything happens for a reason in life. I am exactly where I am supposed to be. This second encounter is meant to be as well. Not satisfied, I go on to seek more dream interpretation. Another source says that others will lean on you in the future. Yes, that is what others tend to do to me via different capacities over the years. I stumbled on another one more interpretation: “you may be worried about actions of the past and how these are your future”. I am now certain that this dream was intended for this first and now second encounter that has just occurred. The good thing is the second encounter is in a different realm under a totally different set of circumstances. Despite that, I can’t help but possibly be concerned on a subconscious level about the potential outcome. It seems like I have figured out the life application of the shooting dream. Let’s take a look at the second dream.

This dream involved a long drawn out exaggeration of my personal life. I was thinking about it, in the big scheme of things, what is the big deal? I am an insignificant person in a sea of billions and billions of other people on the planet. When I went to type it out paraphrasing my dream, not much popped up. When I altered it to public humiliation, I got a hit. At the end of the day, that action is intended to publicly humiliate a person. According to dream interpretation, public humiliation lends to feelings of being ill-prepared, incompetent, or deserving of shame. It can mirror a real life situation or fears a person may have. An interpretation speaks on public humiliation as bringing on embarrassment as bringing to light a person’s hidden weaknesses. The source goes on to give scenarios such as: embarrassing situations, being laughed at, feeling inept, and going through uncertain areas such as new training, new relationship, or getting to know someone better but feeling like you are not really on top of your life.

Of the scenarios listed, the one that sticks out is new training. I like to be prepared in all situations. For goodness sake, I keep an overnight bag in my car, jackets, blankets, food & water, an other items so I am always prepared. I just finished my own self training and exams for some safety credentials. I have managed to earn a new title as a Safety Manager. Despite putting in all of the work, you will always have subconscious doubts on your abilities to handle different situations. The key is to put your best foot forward, always be willing to learn, don’t get rattled and think logically, and make sound decisions from there. In this business, I have ran into plenty of people who fake their confidence and really do not know anything. They learn along the way like anyone else. In conclusion, I believe that this dream was a subconscious fear of entering a new world and not being prepared. The lack of preparedness results in some catastrophe that leads to some fatality and me being put in jail for the rest of my life. That is the worst possible scenario that one could have. Come to think of it, I am really good at “the sky is falling” scenarios. It is amazing how much I worry while others don’t care about much. A balance between being conscientious and level headed is needed.

Hello everyone!

I had previously shared that my son Johnny wanted to discuss about a comedian who mentioned drinking “meth urine”. I didn’t do any research on the subject prior to discussing it with both of my sons. I find the subject matter to be shocking, humorous, and such a weird discovery all wrapped up in one bundle of emotions. I just decided to go find the comedian Johnny was talking about. Her name is Jessa Reed and she is a stand-up comedian from Portland, Oregon. She was a young meth addict in her 20’s who was first accidentally introduced to crystal meth. During the stand-up monologue, she discussed her journey to being a drug addict and what led up to her circumstances and eventual decision to quitting meth use. I wish I had watched Jessa Reed’s comedy skit before talking with my sons about it. I found it to be enlightening on the depths one goes in order to get high. The irony of how disgusted she was to drink out of a dirty toothbrush holder yet not disgusted enough on the urine portion. However, that point was monumental for her to seek help and become sober. I feel frustrated for her how she got hooked on the drug in the beginning. Then again, submersing yourself in those seedy environments can spawn deeper, darker activity. I now have a bunch of questions to ask Johnny about it. It surely was a missed opportunity that I regret not seizing. However, we are scheduled to get together this week and talk about teen social issues. I plan to get in some questions, that I had missed previously, when we get to that topic of discussion. Now you have the back story on why Johnny suggested such an odd topic for discussion. Hello Everyone!

I wanted to extend some quick gratitude for achieving another milestone here on this blog! I thank each and every person who has taken time out of their day to like my content. As a result, the #ConstructionTales blog and website has achieved 1,000 Likes since I started it back in January of 2021. Therefore, I am relatively new on this platform. For anyone reading this for the first time, I am a female journeywoman electrician by trade from New York City. I went back to school to earn my MBA, became a project manager, studied and passed the ASP, CSP, NYC DOB Site Safety Manager exam, and now a Safety Manager. I wrote a book about my apprenticeship during the 1990’s. I have the #VerballyDisastrous podcast project, with my bestiee Melissa and special guests, where we discuss topics through the lens of two independent career women with truck driver mouths. I would be nowhere without people, from all over the world, who come together as a reading, listening, and watching audience to check out the content. I am saying THANK YOU!!! I ended up getting busy yesterday so I didn’t release the slide show that I created. Here is the slide show on the different platforms that I have via using Anchor:

I used the Anchor website and created a profile. I then went into my WordPress blog & website and converted the entire written blog into an audio format. Once converted, each page has a “Listen In Spotify” icon attached to each post. The icon is a direct link to the podcast episode that is now in audio form from the blog. The best part is this is a FREE transaction! Each of your podcast episodes have an opportunity for you to earn revenue from ads as your audio blog gains more listeners on your platforms. I think this is fabulous and can’t talk about Anchor enough. The blog is a tool to market my book #ConstructionTales and my new #VerballyDisastrous podcast that is on Spotify. More marketing tools to help make your projects successful and do not cost you money is absolutely winning! I think I am going to use the Animoto slideshow program and put together a slide show on all of the platforms my audio blog is currently on. I will share it when I complete the slide show shortly. I am a huge fan of taking the time and converting my entire blog into audio form on Anchor!! The blog has gotten more coverage with new listeners, via the various platforms, where Anchor distributes my audio content. The audio blog is currently on: Anchor, Breaker, Pocket Casts, Radio Public, Google Podcasts, and Spotify. My Verbally Disastrous podcast is also on another channel on Spotify. hello everyone!

I spent the past two days putting in LONG hours to edit all four episodes #7-10 entitled, Apprentice Life. As I shared before, I had my two sons Tom and Johnny as guest co-hosts. I also released Episode #6: Hang Time With My Sons as well. Between the 3 of us, we recorded almost 4 hours of content! It took me quite awhile to review all of it! It’s very hard to ensure the transcript is decent with multiple people speaking. I know we all have construction worker mouths. I did try to edit some of it since it can be a distraction. However, it is not free of dirty mouths. I am not apologizing- just warning you. They are good kids with good hearts that like to talk trash. I do not know what I would do if I had a daughter. I am rather ill equipped for that realm. I would love to see feedback on these five episodes. The guys were asking for topics to discuss as well. hello everyone!

I have invited my two sons, Tom & Johnny, as special guests on the podcast. We all got together and spent hours drinking some brews and discussing a wide variety of topics. We broadcasted for about 4 hours during our last get together.  Apprentice Life has multiple parts (A to E) to the discussion. I would like to call it a podcast mini-series. Soundtrap crashed and didn’t let me have it as a giant episode. After some thought, it was best to offer the monster of an episode in smaller bites. I would hate to bore anyone with a 2-hr podcast. Johnny and I are both interviewing Tom since he followed me into the business as an electrician apprentice.  Johnny is vowing to follow us into the business. I know his father and I don’t want to see him ruin his back, knees, neck, etc. via working in the field. Technically, his father is more against it than I am. When he becomes an adult, his path is his choice. I can only persuade him like tying him with chains while he is sleeping and threaten with a chainsaw (kidding-of course).  I am trying to talk him into electrical engineering. Tom and I shared various jobsite construction tales. Many are humorous in nature. Johnny added observation comments and his interest in masonry that he is doing at a vocational school as per his high school curriculum. and life as a 4th year union apprentice. The cool thing is both Tom and I inspire Johnny to find a career path that he will love and will look forward to waking up each day.  Overall, the dynamics are very much the same as when we have personal discussions. The cool thing is that the guys like the concept and want to do it again in the near future. I told Johnny that we are going to work on some podcast episodes next week. He needs to do his research ahead of time. I shall see what kinds of odd topics he will want to discuss with me.

Obviously, the episodes tend to sound like construction workers with the profanity. Yes, I am included in that statement. I tried to edit some of it out since it can be distracting. However, I am sure I am not the only well of profanity that they have drawn from over the years. I didn’t want to remove all cursing. I would feel like I am trying to be inauthentic. Besides, it is hard to wash away the potty mouths completely when you have three people chiming in at any given moment. Yes, I have an honest policy in my family. Some confessions of terrible behavior may not be revealed at the moment. However, it is pretty safe to say that I am aware of 89% of the dirty deeds of my sons after the fact. I totally expect some things sworn into secrecy amongst themselves. I found out later that my eldest son experimented with some drugs in high school. I am actually somewhat relieved that they both favor weed and not into much anything else. In the episodes, it is obvious that they both speak freely amongst me. I am the female ear where they come to me for the female perspective. I do tend to think, after many years in construction, that I think more like a man than a woman. I am that person who thinks that I can be a mother figure and I can also be a friend to my sons. I look forward to the day when Tom gets married and has my grand children- that is coming soon. hello everyone!

I read the article entitled, “Female Carpenter Breaking Down Walls” that was written by Nedburn Thaffe. The article showcased a Jamaican female certified welder and carpenter by the name of Claudia Chambers. Ms. Chambers loves building things and holds pride after reviewing the finished product. Ms. Chambers initially strived to become a math teacher. No sooner than first witnessing a person welding while at work, she opted to seek the same training. Ms. Chambers enrolled in HEART Trust/NTA’s National Council on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET) Lluidas Vale campus shortly after realizing her new career path. By 2013, Ms. Chambers received her diploma in welding and fabrication. However, it appeared that she had difficulty in gaining employment. She opted to continuing her training in carpentry via a program on campus that is called, Wall and Ceiling Lining. By 2014, Ms. Chambers received her carpentry credentials and was able to obtain employment at a major hotel. Not only did she gain carpentry employment at the hotel, she became a demonstrator at the NCTVET Lluidas Vale campus. I did a review of where Lluidas Vale is on the island of Jamaica. It appears to be a city in the middle of the island. Lluidas Vale, also known as Worthy Park, is a settlement in Saint Catherine Parish, Jamaica. As a demonstrator, when the carpenter instructor takes a day off, Ms. Chambers fills in as the instructor. She also appears to help the instructor maintain order in the vocational classroom.

Ms. Chambers is a Top Hill resident on the island. Upon review of the map, her town is located on the southwest portion of Jamaica. I have never been to Jamaica yet. I imagine the weather is always tropical. I am not a fan of working in the heat with my tools. I would not be happy working in a tropical climate. I will take cold weather any day of the week instead. I admire her career choice in a cultural climate where the men appear, on the surface to me, as very macho in nature. I am willing to be wrong about the situation if the men are laid back and have no issue with a talented woman. If anyone who reads this is from Jamaica and knows the culture, please let me know. In the article, Ms. Chambers speaks about how people are surprised with her career path in a male-dominated industry. I think I am correct on my assessment that carpentry is just as hard to break in for women in the U.S. as it is in Jamaica and other parts of the globe. Perhaps there would be more women in the trades if they didn’t receive such harsh treatment from their peers. The working conditions are hard enough on their own. When you add the bullshit pressure layer to the mix, it makes entry and consistency not so appealing. I wanted to share Ms. Chamber’s story as a part of Women’s History Month. I didn’t find her in time to get into the slideshow. Despite her being relatively new to construction, I believe that she faces challenges trying to teach men in her culture with giant egos. I perceive Jamaican men egos to be higher than egos of American men. I could be wrong- let’s discuss.

hello everyone!

In honor of #WomensHistoryMonth or #WomensHerstoryMonth, I am sharing a slideshow of some women that I have researched this month. I tried to travel the globe and not just remain in the United States. I found more women after I created the audio for the slide show. I plan to share a woman, her name is Claudia Chambers from Jamaica, that is a welder and became a carpenter. Here is the list of women in this slide show:
