Advice: Yes Versus No Analysis & “Coming Down With Something” Meaning

Hello Everyone!

How was your weekend on your side of the globe, my pal?? It was rather hot and humid on my side of the globe this past weekend. I missed out on the Pride Parade that went down yesterday. After being in the sun all week for work, I’d rather chill out on my day off. Therefore, I laid low and stayed near the air conditioner. I did get to accomplish some tasks in the process of staying near the cool air. I’m honored to be able to share with you my random Quora blog posts. I’m also honored to be sharing with you my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. I’m also sharing my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, I’m offering you another double dose of Quora advice for your review. This first piece of advice is my take regarding the topic of saying “yes” as opposed to saying “no” plus an explanation. When you have to offer an explanation, it better be logically sound and you need to be prepared to hold your ground and maintain your position. That form of preparation can potentially be mentally taxing. Regardless of the level of preparedness that may be required, hold your ground and firmly offer your position. Some things are totally worth fighting for in life. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “I may be coming down with something”. If you think you are getting sick, the odds are pretty high that this is actually the case. I did respond to a question but it temporarily disappeared. It will pop up later when the moderator of the forum approves my response. Therefore, the second blog post was not my intended one to share. I shall call it my “back-up dancer” advice question so to speak. I’d like to hear your unique take on today’s chosen topics. I always welcome another way to view a situation. Let’s review these individual discussions by checking out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“Why, during times of stress and grief, might it be easier to say yes to something than explain why you’re saying no?”

By Jayantilal Patel

MY RESPONSE #1:

“Oftentimes, it’s easier to just say yes when you are afraid to speak up. Now, why do you fear speaking up? Perhaps you don’t want to hear the other person’s mouth after using your voice? The other person is about to add even more stress and grief to an already intense situation. If you are super stressed out or experiencing major grief, it’s hard to even think properly. For the sake of simplicity, it could be less stressful to just agree and figure out how to proceed at a later date. It’s hard to please people under normal conditions. Saying yes can hold off a rather dramatic conversation if the two parties do not agree to the terms and conditions. Holding off can give you time to properly re-group and think about your future approach when the time is ready for the discussion. Once you have your approach down, then it’s time to reveal your position. It’s better to be well rested in order to tackle the expected pushback. More rest aids with also having more patience in future conversations. May you have good luck and much success along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What is the meaning of “I may be coming down with something”?”

By Naeimeh Tavakolinia

MY RESPONSE #2:

“That phrase means that you are getting this overwhelming sick feeling that overtakes the body. This sick feeling is an indicator of you not feeling your normal self. In the early stages of being sick, you feel the initial symptoms come on. You’re essentially identifying those early symptoms since they predict what’s coming next. We typically get fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, etc. in the very beginning. The initial symptoms somewhat let you know how long and intense the illness will be. Arm yourself with plenty of water and rest in order to get past the sickness. May your illness be short in duration and not very intense. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: Meaning On “3 Sheets To The Wind” & “X Walked So Y Could Run”

Hello Everyone!

How is hump day going for you on your side of the globe today my friend?? I’m coming at you with some more Quora advice. Before you feast your eyes on my reading material, I’m sharing with you my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, I’m delivering yet another double dose of Quora advice for your reading pleasure. This first piece of advice is my thoughts on the phrase, “3 sheets to the wind”. Any time I heard this phrase used, it is usually referring to a person who is absolutely loaded on drugs and/or alcohol. One of my favorite pastimes is getting tuned up and becoming three sheets to the wind. I didn’t realize the significance behind the phrase. I totally appreciated learning about it when I looked it up. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “X walked so Y could run”. I totally think about pioneers in a field as being the X component and those who follow in their footsteps as the Y component. Feel free to share an alternate take on the chosen topics. I always welcome another way to view a situation. Let’s review these individual discussions by checking out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What is the meaning of the phrase “3 sheets to the wind” or if someone says to you “you look like you’re 3 sheets to a wind”?”

By Rose Anne Campbell

MY RESPONSE #1:

“The ‘sheet’ in the phrase, “3 sheets to the wind” uses the nautical meaning of a rope that controls the trim of sail. If a sheet is loose, the sail flaps and doesn’t provide control for the ship. Having several sheets loose “to the wind” could cause the ship to rock about drunkenly. The word “sheet” actually comes from an Old English term for the corner of a sail. The sheets were as vital in the days of three-masted square-rigged sea-going ships as they are today, since they trim the sail to the wind. If they run loose, the sail flutters about in the wind and the ship wallows off its course out of control. It appears that this phrase is super old; back when people explored the world, via a ship. I have always interpreted the phrase to mean that a person is absolutely out of their mind. This mental status could be influenced by drugs, alcohol, or any other unusual state of mind. After doing some research and sharing it with you, I see that I’m not far off with my perception. Be careful when you choose to put yourself in a “3 sheets to the wind” status. I wish you much luck along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What does “X walked so Y could run” mean?”

By Emirey Jackson

MY RESPONSE #2:

“My interpretation of that phrase is that “X” is the pioneer in the scenario. The “Y” character followed “X’s” lead. Therefore, because “X” paved the way, “Y” is able to move through at a much faster pace. This is why “Y” is running. Would “Y” have been able to even walk if “X” had not lead the way?? I wish you much luck on your life path. Cheers! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: Discussing “Fictosexual” & “A Chip On Your Shoulder” Phrase

Hello Everyone!

We’ve reached yet another hump day here on the streets of New York City. How is life on your side of the globe today, my friend?? I honestly had an amazing 3-day holiday weekend. I observed the relatively new holiday Juneteenth this past Monday. I went to Atlantic City and won a lil bit of money at the casino. It was great to also spend quality time with a new important man in my life. Upon this discovery, I have won way more than what can be offered in a casino. Before I flash you with my reading material, I’m sharing with you my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, I’m delivering yet another double dose of Quora advice for your reading pleasure. This first piece of advice is my thoughts on the term “fictosexual”. The second round of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “a chip on your shoulder”. This phrase originated in the United States during the early 19th century. I’m actually blown away that this was an actual practice many decades ago. I totally imagine some angry kid on the playground with his sleeves rolled up, brows furrowed, and looking for a challenger. I’m glad I tend to dispel my anger since I don’t want to linger in it. I understand the frustration for those who choose/can’t let it go. Now is it a choice to not let anger go? I tend to think it is a choice. It takes a lot of time and patience to let the anger go and heal. Feel free to share your position on the chosen topics. Let’s review these discussions by checking out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does it mean to be fictosexuals?”

By Marcelo Philippe

MY RESPONSE #1:

“A fictosexual is a person who has no interest in romantically pursuing a real-life human. Instead, they are exclusively attracted to and aroused by imaginary creations. Many people even going as far as marrying their made-up mates. I’ve seen this type of behavior on television on a show entitled, “My Strange Addiction”. On the surface, it sounds like it couldn’t possibly be even remotely true. What normal person would unapologetically do this while having others see that behavior? In the midst of social media, these platforms attract people from all walks of life. These people are not ashamed of doing what suits them. These different types of people must have all endured different types of life experiences. These life experiences could have been traumatic in nature. It would make sense for a traumatized person to avoid relationships with people. It would be totally logical for a person to carry on a relationship with an inanimate object. After all, there would be a zero percent chance of getting emotionally or physically harmed by an inanimate object. Your anime doll will not harm or leave you for someone else. You are not subjected to domestic violence from a stuffed animal. The relationship would be totally safe and sound. I’ve seen people marry their cars, imaginary people, and even stuffed animals. They are protecting themselves from the pitfalls of even further emotional trauma by not having a relationship with a human at all. I have compassion for people who go against the grain of society and do what works for them to protect their mind and heart. May you have much luck on your life path while experiencing the least amount of trauma as possible. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What is the meaning and origin of the phrase “a chip on your shoulder”?”

By Rose Anne Campbell

MY RESPONSE #2:

“My knee-jerk interpretation of this idiom is that a person is rather edgy in nature and rather quick to snap at any moment. Let’s look up the definition in an online dictionary. According to the village elders, to have “a chip on your shoulder” means a deeply ingrained grievance or feeling of resentment, often deriving from a sense of inferiority and marked by aggressive behavior. The saying originated during the 19th century in the United States, where people wanting a physical fight would carry a chip of wood on their shoulder, daring others to knock it off. I’ve totally learned something new today. I never knew that boys used to place an actual chip on their shoulder as a challenge for others to knock it off. I’m blown away that the phrase is based upon real behavior! I cannot imagine doing that in order to invite random confrontation. I don’t have enough built up angst, even in my darkest days, on my life path to facilitate a need for this drama. I’m thankful that I don’t carry that vibe on my soul. I let bad things go since I want constant peace within my energy field. I also desire to have and maintain peace within my inner circle. You cannot have peace if you carry the burden of anger. This requires solitude and some time to heal your emotional wounds. May you have great luck and find solace along your life path! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: How Is Trust Just Like Glass??

Hello Everyone!

It’s a warm and humid hump day (cue the insurance commercial camel’s voice) here on the streets of New York City. How is your week going on your side of the globe today?? I’m writing posts in doses in between walking the jobsite!! I’m sweating a lot and drinking a lot of water during the day. I’m always trolling the Quora topics in order to share with you some thought provoking topics. Before I share what I dug up for you to read, I’m sharing with you my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now, let’s get back to sharing this double dose of Quora advice with you. This first piece of advice is my thoughts on this phase in my life where, “what is that phrase that marked your life?” I personally think that the person who posed the question meant to say “phase” and not “phrase”. Your second dose of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “trust is like a glass, once it’s broken, then it cannot be repaired”. Trust is absolutely vital in a relationship. Once you lose it, it’s hard to earn it back. Not having an established trusting foundation makes a new relationship shaky. New relationships are very hard to navigate. I’m actively trying to embark on a new relationship as we speak. New can be both exciting and daunting. You cannot control the behavior of the other person. You can only control what you allow in your life and your own behavior. Are future bad encounters your fault if trust is broken yet you continue on with the relationship? On the other hand, should we run at the first breach of trust? Go ahead and share your input down in the comment section down below. Start this discussion by checking out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What is that phrase that marked your life?”

By Adrián Guerra García

MY RESPONSE #1:

“The phrase/phase that marked my life was becoming a young widow. I got married at 18-years old. My husband died a few years later in an accident. The loss of my husband and the father of my son had a huge impact on our lives! I went from being the supportive wife with an entry level job into being forced to become an independent single mother with multiple jobs. The fear of the unknown future was absolutely terrifying! You must either fight or give up. I chose to fight and find my own way. Once you find your own footing and make your own way in life, it is extremely hard to ever go back to the way I was before the tragedy. Becoming a widow changed the fiber of who I am as a woman. My son longed for a father as a child. Watching him struggle with no father was hard to watch over the years. I had to hold back from expressing those strong emotions of loss and that desire to quit at life. I was forced to work hard for both my son and I. The strength of my character was molded from this tragedy. I know I would certainly struggle if I had a man who wanted me to fall back and become a housewife. I truly clawed my way in order to put my head above water financially. My fear of a new man in my life dying and going into a struggle again would keep me from falling back and relying on him. I now only feel comfortable making my own money and blazing my own trail. Once you have experienced this type of hardship, it’s forever changes your perception on life. May you never experience being a widow in our entire life. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“Why do they say, “trust is like a glass, once it’s broken, then it cannot be repaired”?”

By Monk AM

MY RESPONSE #2:

“Trust is absolutely just as fragile as glass. Trust requires a slow build-up of respect that evolves over a period of time. Trust is slowly earned through consistent good behavior. All it takes is one dishonest moment to ruin that network of good deeds. Sadly, life is never the same once dark deeds come to light. Only people who really want to fight for the relationship will see the heart(s) mend over time. Any new revelations will bring the relationship back to rock bottom. Trust is just as delicate, despite being rather durable, as glass. Glass looks perfect when not touched and caution is consistently exercised. If you do not consistently exercise care, glass can suddenly break without warning. Once the glass is broken, it is either impossible or extremely hard to repair. The break in the glass must be rather small in nature in order to attempt to fix it. Once repaired, if it is even possible, it requires further care to ensure there are no more further accidents. A crack in the glass, if large in size, will only grow larger in size until it breaks in half or a million pieces. Most of the time, the glass cannot be repaired and must be discarded. Depending on the breach in trust, it will forever change the dynamics of the relationship. If trust is restored, it will sure take a whole lot of time in order to get somewhat to where it once was before the problem came up. God help the parties involved if another incident happens while the trust is in a fragile state. May your glass stay in tact while it’s surrounded with bubble wrap. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: Meaning Behind Two More Phrases

Hello Everyone!

Let’s ignore the fact that we are right back to Tuesday and the middle of the work week, my friend. How was your weekend on your side of the globe today?? I had an amazing previous weekend and I am looking forward to this upcoming weekend as well!! As your buddy in your head, I’m always looking for interesting topics to speak on and share with you. Before I share some more Quora advice, I’m bring to your attention my first children’s book that’s entitled, “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Now it’s time to share even more custom Quora advice so you have bathroom reading material. I got you!!! 😛 This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “what am I going to do with you?” Now, for the second round of advice, the topic is on the meaning behind the phrase, “I like him but I like you better”. My knee-jerk thought would be that these phrases are obvious with their meaning. However, I’m also aware that not every phrase is uttered across the entire planet. Let’s get straight into the meat and potatoes by reading both the question and my matching advice down below. Drop your thoughts, on this bevy of chosen topics, by sharing your two cents down in the comment section down below. Go ahead and check out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does “What am I going to do with you?” mean?”

By Naeimeh Tavakolinia

MY RESPONSE #1:

“This phrase can be known as being rhetorical in nature. A rhetorical question is a question that’s asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer. Sometimes, the answer to the question is already known by one or both parties. The person is saying it to you in order to get a response. This is the part where you either give a smart ass answer or a real one. If I say it to someone, it is often delivered in a sarcastic manner. I already know what I want to do with a person. I’m looking for them to return the sarcasm my way. When I ask what I’m going to do with you, I’m trying to determine how I plan to have them become intertwined in my life. Everyone plays a role and a part in our lives. It totally depends on the person and the role that needs to be played. May you have good luck along your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“”I like him but I like you better” what does it mean when someone says this to you?”

By Michael Okeke

MY RESPONSE #2:

“I believe that they are doing what is known as, “shooting your shot”. They are letting you know that they are interested in you. The person is acknowledging that they like the first person in question. However, they take the back seat since they prefer you. You either try it out or bow out gracefully. May you make the best choice! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: The Meaning Of Gratitude & “Not A Big Fan”

Hello Everyone!

We made it to another find Friday folks!! Let’s use this opportunity to enjoy another summer weekend. Make your free time count and enjoy it as much as possible since life is short! The summer flies by since it is only a few months in duration. At least that is how it is here in New York City. How is life on your side of the globe today?? I wish you nothing but success and happiness! As your friend in your head, I’m always sifting the internet to look for more content to share. As I have stated before, I’m always open to topic suggestions and your feedback. Before I share the advice, I’m sharing with you my first children’s book “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. I’m now sharing even more custom Quora advice for your reading pleasure. This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind doing things for a person that are considered to either be special, normal, or hold no value. People who lack gratitude really get under my skin!!! It irritates me to see entitled people walk the Earth. What’s even worse is to see the entitled people totally abuse another person and their kindness!! No one owes you a damn thing!! If you don’t like how a person does something, do it your damn self!! I dealt with a lazy soul for many years who would critique from the couch!! I refuse to deal with a personality like that ever again and you should too! Thankfully, the second question is mild in nature. For the second round of advice, the topic is on the meaning behind the phrase, “not a big fan”. Go ahead and get right into the reading material by reciting both the question and my advice down below. Drop your thoughts, on my wide range of chosen topics, by leaving your position taken in the comment section down below. Check out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does it mean when people do something to someone and that someone sees it as special and when you do it its very normal or has no value even?”

By Willi G.m

MY RESPONSE #1:

“This boils down to a person having gratitude versus no gratitude. You should be grateful for each and every gift another person offers you. I’ve always been under the impression that no one owes me $hit!! The only person who owes me anything is myself. If anyone does anything for me, I must extend nothing less than gratitude each and every time. Because a person is going out of their way to do something for me, I always consider it special. It’s special no matter how small the gesture is. Once you start taking a person for granted and expecting them to do things for you, you will no longer see the same value in the other person’s contributions. Once the person contributing sees that they are not valued, they will either immediately or eventually step back with their efforts. Relationships fail oftentimes because one or both parties take the person for granted. The same energy offered in the beginning of a relationship is not always carried through for the duration of the relationship. It’s a damn shame if a stranger on the street gets more respect than a person closest in your social circle. Not keeping that same energy is a key reason for relationship failure. It’s always best to show gratitude for each and every chore another person takes on for your behalf. This gratitude keeps the flame burning on the torch. It’s not even good to criticize a person’s deeds either. If you don’t like how someone does something for you, then just do it yourself. After all, if you didn’t have to spend your time and/or money on the task, you should be honored that another person did it for you. I had a past relationship where I was often criticized for my good deeds. This same person rarely ever did anything for me. The solution was to tell him to no longer ask me and just do it himself. You live and learn along your life path. You end up teaching people what’s acceptable behavior anytime you accept anything less than gratitude for your kindness. May you have much luck and success on your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What is the meaning of the expression “not a big fan”?”

By Marcelo Philippe

MY RESPONSE #2:

“It can be somewhat of a softer way to let someone know that you don’t like something. A fan is short for fanatic. A fanatic is a person who is filled with excessive and single-minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious or political cause. It can also just mean that you do not have an over exaggerated feeling for a particular item. You may like a concept or even feel rather neutral about it. However, you are not “over the moon” in love with the concept. Telling a person that you are “not a big fan” could also be sarcastic in nature as well. You could be totally misleading the person on purpose as to your feelings about the item. It’s a way to not reveal exactly how you feel since you are not sure of the other person’s position. May you have much success and luck on your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Hello Everyone!

I’m back to harass you again with another blog post! Thankfully, it’s an uneventful Thursday here on the job and I love the fact that we are closer to another summer weekend. I’m always honored and happy to be able to send more content your way. Feel free to go ahead and share topic suggestions by dropping them in the comment section below. Before I share with you some good ‘ole Tik Tok videos, your buddy ‘ole pal Leslie is sharing with you her first children’s book “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for her first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. I’m working here on a multi-building high rise residential project here in Queens in New York City. I’m sharing videos from the project where crews are building multiple 20-story pipe scaffolds. Once they are erected, the pipe scaffold will have tenants walking on it while the crews demolish and re-pour these concrete walkways. I’m looking forward to seeing this process flow since I’ve never seen a giant pipe scaffold being erected before. The craziest part is that the scaffold is not just for workers but the tenants. Of course the scaffolds had to be custom engineered including creating a base that can handle the weight of the scaffold. I shall share periodic progress with videos on Tik Tok and then on YouTube regularly. Follow me on Tik Tok under my name leslie_m_jasper to join me on my work adventure. Check out the Tik Tok videos, from my current work project, down below:

Advice: Meaning Behind “Timing Is Everything” & “Top Of The Line”

Hello Everyone!

What is going on by your side of the globe today? I’m happy that it’s Thursday and the fact that we are closer to another summer weekend. As always, I’m looking for more content to send your way. I’m always open to topic suggestions and your feedback. I have not dived fully into the Reddit realm yet past just creating a profile. It feels like there are too many rules in the Reddit world. Before I share the advice, your buddy ‘ole pal Leslie is sharing with you her first children’s book “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for her first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. This same construction chick pal of yours is here yet again sharing some more construction-style crafted Quora advice for your amusement today. This first piece of advice is on the meaning behind the phrase, “timing is everything”. I’ve dealt with quite a few scenarios where timing was off and a situation didn’t occur. I look at it like, if the timing is not right, it was just not meant to happen. This should be because something much better is coming right behind that temporary disappointment. Now, for the second round of advice, the topic is on the meaning behind the phrase, “top of the line”. I’m opting to not expand too much further on these topics since I have provided my thoughts in the responses down below. I will just have you crash right into my reading material with both the question and my advice down below. Drop your input, on my wide selection of unique topics, by leaving your thoughts in the comment section down below. Check out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does it mean when someone says, “Timing is everything”?”

By Crystal Tolentino

MY RESPONSE #1:

“The phrase “timing is everything” to me means that success hinges on the right timing and a variety of different factors. There are a wide variety of factors that contribute to the right timing. One must also take into consideration that many events can greatly influence a desired outcome. Let’s take a personal relationship as an example. A person can have all of the right qualities that help a relationship flourish. However, the other person just got out of a bad relationship and is not in the right mindset. Therefore, the relationship doesn’t happen because the timing just wasn’t right. We all have different life experiences that shape how we proceed in life. These different life experiences could require a break from that experience in order to heal. The duration of the needed break really hinges on the person and exactly what happened to them. Here comes a great opportunity for that person. Because of that need for the break, the opportunity is ultimately lost. It should not be a big deal since the timing just wasn’t right. After all, if you are not ready, you are just not ready and it is not meant to be. Timing is everything means that all factors need to be ready and in play in order for the event to happen. Timing is the brain child of just about any task or event in life. You literally cannot accomplish anything in life without the right timing. It’s not meant to be if the timing is not right. I hope I properly translated my perception on the phrase. May you have much success on your life path! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What is top of the line?”

By Naeimeh Tavakolinia

MY RESPONSE #2:

“The phrase, “top of the line” can be considered as the absolute best quality of a particular category. Top of the line can also be considered as the most expensive of its kind available. The “line” would be considered the wide variety of products and/or services that are available on the market. Perhaps the top of the line could also be a product that is the most durable out of the entire industry. No matter the realm that this product and/or service dominates, you should be able to expect the absolute best. Considering it’s considered the best, expect to pay the most for this particular product and/or service. You may have a rare chance to find a top of the line product/service at a discount if, for some reason, there is not the anticipated demand. However, the most expensive item is not automatically considered top of the line. Nowadays, there are more goods and services on the market than in the past. A person really needs to do their homework in order to sift through products and find the actual top of the line item. May you have much success along your life path! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: Meaning Of “Swim In Self Pity” & Crawling Before Walking

Hello Everyone!

How is the weather on your side of the globe today my friend? We are dealing with increased heat and humidity here in New York City. I left my step tracker at home on the charger so I’m twisted up about it. I’m not going to let it ruin my day. It will jam up my progress for the week. Your pal Leslie is sharing with you her first children’s book “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Your favorite construction blogger pal is here yet again sharing more custom crafted Quora advice for your absorption. This first piece of advice is on the topic of the meaning behind the phrase, “don’t swim in your self-pity”. I’m envisioning someone practically drowning in a red dyed pool whenever I think about this phrase. The person is absolutely drowning in the pool of despair and sadness. I love to swim. However, this is a pool that I try feverishly to avoid. It benefits no one to stay in despair. The sooner you process the emotions, the sooner you can re-emerge as a healed person. You need to breathe and get ready for the next problem that comes up anyway. Playing the victim role is a rather unattractive quality to possess. People may say they feel sorry for you. However, behind the scenes, they are going to make a point to dodge you in the future. Work through those emotions in any healthy way that you can. Push through the feelings and develop a plan to get out of that funk. I totally get being in a funk and having the deck stacked against ya. For many years, as a young widow, I felt like I had the world on my shoulders. I worked a tremendous amount in order to survive. My work also helped to keep my mind busy. I also wrote out (50) goals to look at on the horizon and keep me going. I would write out new goals after crossing out the goals that were smashed. I had this goal list rotation going on for many years. I have about (7) goals currently written in my phone. I’m supposed to look at them daily but I’ve been slacking. Always keep your eye on the prize! For the second round of advice, the topic is on the meaning behind the phrase, “X walked so Y could run”. I associate this phrase with ground breaking people. The very first trailblazing person to attempt a feat. Once they have established themselves, the people who follow suit have a much easier time. I can’t think of another example for this phrase. Can you think of a different scenario? Let’s dive right into the reading material, via checking out both the question and advice down below. Drop your feedback on my wacky selection of topics by leaving your feedback in the comment section down below. Check out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does “don’t swim in your self-pity” mean? Can I feel sad?”

By Johnny Alex

MY RESPONSE #1:

“Well, let’s look at the definition of self-pity. According to an internet dictionary, self-pity is an excessive, self-absorbed unhappiness over one’s own troubles. What’s considered as excessive anyway? Carrying on with such dramatic sadness? I know of some people who constantly speak about their sorrow and/or bad luck. This person wonders why people avoid them. Whenever you are out socializing, you have to mention your troubles to your friends. This is not good at all. We ALL have challenges in life. Our challenges do not need to be constantly on the front page. Like how most people feel, I really don’t want to be your evening impromptu therapist when we are supposed to be out having a great time drinking some beers. I’m sure most people feel the same way. Yes, you can be sad. When a person says that you are swimming in self-pity, it means that you are in a constant state of dismay. Seeing someone swim in self-pity is depressing and unappealing. What is the benefit of staying in the deep end of sadness?? Swimming in self-pity is not good for the person doing it either. Once you linger in that mindset for a long period of time, it is hard to pull yourself out of it. Give yourself time to process the problem and then work on the solution to get yourself out of the pits of despair. No matter what you are going through, someone always has it way worse than you do. A positive mindset goes a long way towards working yourself out of bad situations. As I said before, there is zero benefit to swimming in self-pity. There is a solution for every problem. Problems do give hardship but you don’t have to stay in the hardship forever. Work to get out of that mindset as soon as possible. Surround yourself with positive people. Their good energy is great to submerse yourself in. If you start the negative self talk, turn it around to thinking positive. Write out those goals, smash them, cross them out, and then write some more. Goals are a good way to keep your eye on the prize and feel good about your life progress. Once you get some age to your life path, you realize that everything works out. I wish you much luck and success on your life path! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What does “X walked so Y could run” mean?”

By Emirey Jackson

MY RESPONSE #2:

“My interpretation of that phrase is that “X” is the pioneer in the scenario. The “Y” character followed “X’s” lead. Therefore, because “X” paved the way, “Y” is able to move through at a much faster pace. This is why “Y” is running. Would “Y” have been able to even walk if “X” had not lead the way?? I wish you much luck on your life path. Cheers! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

Advice: More Phrase Interpretations

Hello Everyone!

How is your work/school week going, my friend? Hopefully, you are doing well on this Tuesday and enjoying the weather. How is the weather on your side of the globe? We had the first injury on the project this week. Thankfully, the young man wasn’t severely hurt. Whenever there is a problem on the jobsite, the Department of Buildings rep must come onsite to check out our paperwork. Thankfully, we are good to go and had no issues. Is it wrong to be already thinking about the weekend?? 😛 My work hours indeed occupy the bulk of my time during the week. Lately, I have not been finding the time to do new podcast episodes. I know I mentioned that I wanted to do more last week. I’m hoping to try to force myself to do it this week. I might as well share yet again with you my first children’s book “Not All Girls Play With Dolls” that is available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes. The same reminder goes for my first adult book entitled, “Construction Tales: Volume I: A Woman’s Journey To Become An Electrician”. Your construction blogger pal is here yet again sharing more Quora advice for your senses to soak in. This first piece of advice is on the topic of the meaning behind the phrase, “it runs like a top”. I think that one is an old phrase. For the second round of advice, the topic is on the meaning behind, “just because someone desires you, does not mean that they value you”. This sounds like a question that a young person would typically ask. However, I don’t think that’s the absolute rule. I’m basing my answer from my many years of working with all men. Sadly, men lose respect for women for a variety of different reasons. Once lost, I don’t think it is easy to have a good impression restored. Let’s cut to the chase and get straight to the reading material by checking out both the question and advice down below. Drop your feedback on my wacky selection of topics by leaving your feedback in the comment section down below. Check out the question(s) and my response(s) down below:

POSED QUESTION #1:

“What does the expression “it runs like a top” mean?”

By Rick Wilz

MY RESPONSE #1:

“My interpretation of that phrase is the car’s engine has the same rotations per minute as the toy that’s known as a top. For those that are not aware, a top has a point on one end while the other end is wide and round on the other side with a small handle that’s used to spin the top. The speed at what the top spins on that point hinges on how fast a person spins the top. A top is a rather dated toy that was a part of many different cultures. A top goes back as far as 3000 BC in Egypt. The expression doesn’t make sense because a top will lose speed and fall on it’s side if it’s not spun again. Obviously, you have to keep spinning the top in order for it to stay running. Perhaps the meaning is more so how smooth a top spins while it is in motion. I hope this helps to piece together the meaning of this phrase. I wish you much luck on your life path. #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

POSED QUESTION #2:

“What does this mean, “just because someone desires you, does not mean that they value you”?”

By Soha

MY RESPONSE #2:

“What is value anyway? If you hold a high value, the man will recognize your unique qualities and work to keep you in their life. A high value woman will have her act together while having many feminine and nurturing qualities that are very appealing to a man. These great qualities could make the woman a potential future wife and mother. This value is recognized because it is not within every single woman that a man meets. According to an online dictionary source, there are a few meanings. Value is the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something. A person’s principles or standards of behavior; one’s judgment of what is important in life. Value is also to consider (someone or something) to be important or beneficial; have a high opinion of. Value can also be an estimate of the monetary worth of (something). Therefore, value can mean a different thing to each individual. It’s fair to say that many women don’t understand about the many men that walk the Earth who choose to think like this phrase. Then again, rarely does a guy come at a woman with his true intentions for her. However, there are clues that he doesn’t value you highly. True intentions tend to be masked by a guy’s word salad. This word salad is a medley of what he perceives she will buy in exchange for access to her body. If the only thing he wants to do is take you to McDonald’s and have sex with you, he doesn’t value you sis. If you only hang out with him during small blocks of time (never on the weekends) and you never meet anyone within his social circle, you are just holding a place in his life for sex. (DISCLAIMER Yes, not all men think like this.) If you are cool with it, by all means enjoy your life. I happen to work with all guys, for over 26-years now, so I’ve developed a general understanding on the meaning behind that phrase. I’ve heard so many whore stories during lunch and coffee break over the years. I would feel sorry for the young girl who is not valued at all by this guy who’s bragging to his co-workers about his latest conquest. Because of these many work experiences, I can spot this kind of guy who doesn’t value women at all a mile away. Usually he seeps of some form of trauma and has a rather slanted view on women. It comes out in random conversations. Sadly, many women are under an impression that when a man desires her sexually, he also values her for something more than just sex. Some women also assume that when a man wants to have sex, he also wants to lock her down in an exclusive relationship. This comes from the impression after hearing the man’s word salad. Obviously, the guy is saying what he thinks that she wants to hear just so that he can just get in her pants. For him, hopefully the same lines work just as well each time they are said. I believe that there are various metrics that a man uses in order to value a woman. These metrics hinge on the man’s culture and life experiences. If he perceives her as being a good girl with great qualities, that he would consider in a wife, he will highly value her. If he perceives her as a whore that’s for the streets, he won’t value her highly at all. He will still want to have sex with her. A woman with low standards of herself will attract men who also have low standards. People only get away with what you allow to happen. If you allow a person to continue to not value you, whose fault is that? You must ask yourself why does this man not value you? Is the damage already done? Once a person perceives you to be of low value, it’s hard to improve that mindset. You are better off cutting your losses and moving on to a relationship that is a clean slate. As much as it is fun to speak about fun past experiences, sometimes it is better to hold back on your crazy drinking stories. The translation in his mind is that you’re a whore and not to be taken seriously. It is possible that this guy will never value any woman ever. That problem doesn’t belong to you. The only thing you need to do is require men to treat you right. If they don’t, then don’t be afraid to walk away. You can’t force or coerce a person to value you either. I believe that a woman should be a man’s peace within the midst of a chaotic world. The women who are not in control of their own emotions are considered to be “crazy” and not of high value. I wish you much luck on your life path as being seen as valuable! #ConstructionTales #VerballyDisastrous #NotAllGirlsPlayWithDolls”

I recently shared my latest short story that has been loaded up to my Construction Tales-Told By A Woman Kindle Vella Library on Amazon. This is short story #11 entitled, “Juggling Motherhood & Working With The Tools”. This short story covers my life as a widowed, single mother in the era when I juggled both motherhood and my career as a journeywoman electrician. I share the various challenges I faced and lessons learned along the way. The previous short story is entitled: #10: “Early Life Lessons & Characters To Meet As An Apprentice”. I decided to write about some life lessons such as guarding your personal information, managing nasty rumors, combating sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and racism. Overall, the construction culture has improved dramatically over the past 25-years. Developing both a thick skin and a sharp tongue are key tools needed to survive various jobsite antics. I hope you learn something from this short story. There are more to come. These short stories are now also available as Verbally Disastrous podcast episodes.
