Hello Everyone!

How are you spending your time on your Monday afternoon!? If you are reading this, I see that you survived this past Christmas holiday weekend!?! Hopefully, the teen in your life was not busted for twerking and knocking down grandma’s Christmas tree? Imagine a snot-nosed kid breaking a 40-year old sentimental ornament? I just hope that someone recorded the foolery for Tik Tok and/or YouTube?! Did you either prepare and/or sit down and enjoy a big feast with your beloved friends and/or family this past weekend? Hopefully, there were no embarrassing issues that came about at the dinner table? I didn’t cook a giant feast for this Christmas. I prepped a few pecan pies, red velvet cake, and made a ton of pudding Jell-O shots that were a hit at the Christmas party!! The new family tradition was a success and a lot of fun. My lazy ass cat napped all day on Christmas. My goal was to focus on Christmas Eve and to rest on Christmas Day. Boy, this goal sure exceeded my expectations! 😛 I feel like I need to be productive to make up for bumming around on Christmas Day. For many years, the days preparing for Christmas Day were absolutely fun connecting yet super exhausting while preparing. I’m thankful for the down time that I get nowadays. However, do I look forward to future grandchildren and I guess the work that comes with it. Let me know in the comment section how was your Christmas festivities!? The pudding Jell-O shots were the following concoctions: Island Pineapple Jell-O with Coconut Rum, Dove Peanut Butter & Chocolate pudding with Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey, vanilla pudding with Stoli Salted Caramel Vodka, and Banana Cream pudding with Coconut Rum, whipped cream, and Nila Wafers. I’m open to more pudding shot ideas if you have them available so leave it in the comment section below.

I have worked on editing raw audio footage, on and off when I can, from my recent sit down over the phone with Photacular Imagery artist Brian Reyes who now works and lives out of California. I just released Part A from this 3-part chat with my union brother who is a traveling journeyman electrician out in areas such as IBEW Locals #617 and #6 that hail from various areas in California. As a kid who grew up in the Bronx, there were clear cultural adaptations that needed to be made. Brian fits right in since he is a gypsie at heart. I’m curious as to his/her path from transitioning from being a Catholic to a Satanist. I’m planning on sending him/her the questions out this week so he/she can prepare for the interview. Perhaps Melissa and I will get to discuss our impending topic on our most embarrassing moments this upcoming weekend. It’s now time for me to work on other tasks since I have big things to take care of this week. I must go back to grooving to various Zumba YouTube videos at night in order to improve my health. I need to continue working on myself and get past the extra eating sessions that comes with the holidays. Hello Everyone!

How are you spending your time on your Wednesday morning!? You are almost to the upcoming Christmas holiday weekend. Are you preparing a big feast with your beloved friends and/or family? Thankfully, I’m not planning on cooking a giant feast this go around. I’m preparing some desserts to bring over to a new family tradition. Some cousins have purchased their first house and have invited the family for their first Christmas Eve in their new home. I’m looking forward to the new family tradition. We have spent many years, since coming into my deceased husband’s family back in 1995, at a particular family’s home each year. I consider my in-laws as my parents since both of my parents are deceased. I’m grateful for the connection that I have with this bonus family. I know that I do not say it enough. I have never taken this group for granted. Over the years, the family has grown exponentially with even more children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. For the past few years, the home has felt even more crowded each and every year with the introduction of new family members. It makes total sense to shift the family tradition over to a new place. I will create some desserts in preparation for Christmas Eve and just go light with a basic meal for Christmas Day at home base. I’m glad to only have to focus on Christmas Eve and more so resting on Christmas Day. For many years, the days preparing for Christmas Day were absolutely fun connecting yet super exhausting while preparing. I’m glad that I no longer have small children to concern myself with preparing. However, I look forward to future grandchildren. Nowadays, I will just prepare some items to bring over to the family’s house on Christmas Eve. I totally plan on making Jell-O pudding shots with alcohol. I am thinking about chocolate, vanilla, and salted caramel pudding shots. The goal is to create something festive that I can create each year for the gang. I need to get the ingredients and prepare them the night before. I will try to give you an update once the holidays are over with my creative pudding shots. Let me know if you have any crafty pudding shot recipes that you create for your tribe? I think I will make a couple of apple pies and a pecan pie to go with the pudding shot concoction.

Let’s shift gears rather wildly so that I can share the actual purpose of this blog post. I dug into the crates yet again to find another thought provoking Quora question. It’s no secret that I rely on the warm waters of the Quora topic pool to keep this blog wet, wild, and spicy! We all know that you like this culmination of key ingredients! The topic that caught my eye was the subject of the meaning of the phrase, “Whatever you do comes back on you?”. You know that the goal of this post is to offer advice that is short, sweet, and rather direct. My knee jerk approach that came to mind for this posed question was to explain energy in relation to basic electrical theory. I briefly explained about Ohm’s Law. I tried to verbalize how an electrical circuit works and how energy is related to the basic concept of electrical theory. My goal is to offer a visual interpretation in your mind. If you are confused, then I failed miserably with conveying the photo in your mind. I need to know if I properly conveyed it or not. Therefore, don’t be shy and let me know. Trust me, I have wide shoulders and can handle it. Just try to be eloquent with your critique so that I may properly improve my depiction. I will revise and expand further if I caused any confusion. “I believe that the person is referring to the various religious and philosophical theories such as: 1) the “law of karma”, 2) the “Golden Rule”, and 3) “Newton’s Laws”. Scientists believe that energy is neither created or destroyed. Many different forms of religion hold the same basic principle concepts. In order to understand energy, it is helpful to understand basic electrical theory. In electrical terms, imagine a loop of both positive and negative forces that work in conjunction together in order to complete an electrical circuit. The circuit is in tact until there is a difference in potential with energy going to ground. When you face energy going to ground, that is when equipment either explodes or stops functioning. It needs to be troubleshooted and repaired in order to resume normal operations. All energy follows the same basic principles as electrical theory with voltage, amperage, and resistance. These three key features work together in conjunction in order to complete the path of electricity. Go ahead and look up Ohm’s Law to gain a basic understanding of electricity which is energy. Therefore, energy that goes out, either good or bad, will come back at some point. For all you know, there may be some resistance along the path. Once cleared, that bad energy sent out to someone can come back to you as the voltage pushes that amperage right back to you to complete the electrical circuit. According to the Golden Rule, you should treat others as they treat you. Additionally, I believe that the person is also referring to Newton’s Third Law. This law states that, “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. Newton’s Second Law states that the time rate of change of the momentum of a body is equal in both magnitude and direction to the force imposed on it. Even if you are not much into religious views, it would still appear to follow the Golden Rule just in case to be on the safe side. Yes, not everyone will see the return of that energy as soon as it is first extended. It will manifest and return as per the future when either God and/or the Universe deems that it is fitting to happen. Some may believe that the resistance along the path has been placed along the path as per the plan of a higher power. This is possibly why it can take awhile for that bad energy to return. Just remember that the bad energy may not come to you personally. It could very well come back and impact a person that you love and hold dear. It is wise to exercise care and caution no matter what step you take in life. No matter your religion, we all are here on Earth to grow, evolve, learn powerful lessons, and have a positive impact on other souls that we meet during our life journey. How are you spending your time on your Wednesday afternoon!? I apologize for my typo on the day yesterday. So now you feel like it’s Ground Hog Day? No, you’re right. I’m just an idiot who made an innocent mistake. It clicked later on in the day when I checked the date for another task. In my head, I went, S-S-S-S-H-H-I-I-T-T-T!! Now you are going to check my posts yesterday to see that I thought it was Wednesday. I’m just looking to see if you are paying attention since I’m clearly not. I’m pretty good at making mistakes and I’m okay when you make them yourself. 😛 Yes, I am making the longest joke on a typo. Alright, let’s move on to the next unsolicited piece of advice that you came here for.

I managed to find another thought provoking Quora question. It’s no secret that I rely on the pool of Quora topics to keep this blog spicy and to evoke thought. We all know that you like spicy. This topic that caught my eye was the subject of coming up with a term for, “when you want someone to do for you what you would do for them”. This advice is indeed short and sweet this time. The term, “symbiotic relationship” came to mind. When I think of the term as a visual, I think of the remora that is attached to the fish while they both swim upstream. The fish gets cleaned and the remora gets a meal. They are both winning with the partnership. I’m sure there are relationships where they both do not benefit. What would that term be called? Now, what is the first knee jerk term that comes to mind for this posed question? I opted to back up my term by pulling up the dictionary definition to back up my choice of using the term. “I’ve always referred to a scenario for two parties who mutually want to exchange duties that benefit each other. That is a symbiotic relationship in my mind. Here is the definition of the root term symbiosis:

Hello Everyone!

How are you spending your time on your Wednesday afternoon!? Are you surprised that I yet again went looking for some requested questions within my selection on my Quora profile? I know, by this point, you know that I rely on the pool of Quora topics to keep this blog spicy and to evoke thought. This topic that caught my eye was the subject of the cost of ignoring red flags. I initially chose this one since I thought I could respond to it quickly. I was trying to be short and sweet with this piece of advice. However, I did go down deeper in the rabbit hole than I anticipated and managed to pull myself back. I’m sure I could have expanded on this topic and made into a long ass thesis. I recognize that a few of my talking points are rather sensitive in nature and great care needs to be taken while approaching them. I feel like I can speak on those talking points since I have either experienced it first hand or witnessed it as a child. As a young person, I didn’t have the capacity to properly articulate my feelings on these various areas. I’m grateful that I picked up this ability during my ongoing journey into adulthood. I’m also grateful that I didn’t regularly attract a man with domestic violence red flags. I’ve basically said without saying to anyone that I embark into a relationship with that the first punch thrown will be the last one. I have also shared that I will hit back since God gave me the same strength as a man. For the record, I do not believe that a couple should put their hands on one another ever. Instead, they should use their words after giving each other enough space to cool down. Once the respect is lost, so is the relationship. If I have to defend myself, I would do it with every fiber of my being. I’m sure that lack of fear of facing violence is always in the back of the other person’s mind. I believe that this is a situation that should never be tested or moved past if activated. Here I go again down the rabbit hole on only one of the talking points. Obviously, I am rather passionate about this subject matter. I won’t spoil the advice post any further. As with my last advice posts, I sincerely hope that this advice can be of help or at the very least have you ponder the topic. Here is the posed question and my response below:

“What did ignoring someone’s red flags cost you?”

MY RESPONSE:

“The costs of ignoring someone’s red flags are high. When I say that, it may not necessarily quantity of many red flags but the magnitude. I believe that the biggest cost is your time. You cannot get back your time once it’s lost. You can always make back money that you lose on a person with more red flags than a Chinese military parade. However, life does not issue you more time that you lost. You can’t purchase more time no matter how much money you have. Other costs of ignoring the red flags are your youth. There is only a finite amount of time where a person has their youth. It’s not a good thought to have a person who is worthy of taking a chunk of your youth. Usually people in a relationship spend money. If you managed to get through an entire relationship without contributing at all financially, I don’t know what to say. I sure hope you returned energy in different ways that were just as valuable. Any red flags you endured was your currency exchange for mooching off a giving soul. If you pooled money into a relationship that didn’t return it in some form, that was a red flag. Doing anything for a person who has not returned in some way is a red flag. Once you pay time, money, and youth, what is a higher cost than that? Another cost would be your son and/or daughter’s trauma within their childhood. That is a pretty high cost in my book. Bringing in a boyfriend or girlfriend into your home and ignoring their red flags, via interactions with your children, is a huge cost to be paid by the mind of your children. That is just as high of a cost as time or money. You can’t wipe the impact away from the mind of a child. Once you experience childhood trauma, it takes many years of self work, therapy, bad life choices, and ruined relationships to get past the shadow of your bad childhood. The parent gets to enjoy the fruits of a relationship with a toxic partner while their children pay the price of ignoring the red flags. I’m not saying that the parent doesn’t experience costs of ignoring red flags. That parent cannot overlook that the children don’t also suffer. My last cost that I will reveal is a person’s self-esteem. When you allow a toxic, red flag laden person into your personal space, over time this toxic soul will work to systematically erode your soul. Over time, the self-esteem gets eroded so much, it rusts, rots, and falls apart metaphorically. Once your self-esteem falls apart, that person will allow even more bad things to continue to happen in their life. They will think that they deserve any domestic violence that was doled out by their toxic partner. This erosion of the self-esteem is so corrosive, the person will be a shell of what they once were to where the only escape is through removing themselves from the Earth. There is help and an escape from this deep hole that this person has sunk into slowly over time. A person can find and re-build their self-esteem again if they are willing to work on it after an angel on Earth has shown them the path. It is hard work to re-build but it is indeed possible. Once out of the red flag danger zone, this person will be hypersensitive, dare I say develop an allergy, to the mere sight of red flags. I’m going to pull back from this topic since it is a deep subject that is sensitive where you must exercise great care. Sadly, I have experience with this topic as a child witnessing this erosion. It was a valuable lesson that I carried with me into my adulthood on what not to do. I’m sure I speak more in depth on this cost as well as other costs of ignoring red flags on my Leslie’s Verbally Disastrous Podcast & #ConstructionTales Blog website. Instead, I will stop at what I perceive as the highest costs. Hello Everyone!

How are you spending your time on your Wednesday morning!? I decided to go and look yet again for some requested questions within my selection on my Quora profile. I have a constant flow of questions that pop up. I don’t think it is possible for me to answer them all but I will try…someday. This topic that caught my eye was the subject of a person telling another person to, “accept my heart”. I chose this one since it’s another one that I could respond to it quickly so I selected it. I’m sure I could have expanded on this topic and made into a long ass thesis. However, I shall spare you all the details. 😛 My goal is to try to be short and sweet with the advice again on this hump day (cue the camel’s voice). As per the last advice post and it still applies so I shall say it again. I can say that I loved hard (3) times in my life. I never chased any one of these men and tried to get them to accept my heart. I just went with the flow and I slipped down the rabbit hole without realizing it. I can’t imagine saying to anyone to accept my heart. That would be more than likely due to not having the courage to do so. I can climb 100-ft Redwood trees, deal with high voltage, and do other daring activities. I find approaching a person with that level of vulnerability as something I don’t have courage to do. I would rather think that it is just something that you go with the flow and see where the relationship takes you. I interpret that saying as trying to force yourself on another soul that is not willing to take the leap. That can’t work out too well in the long run. That will more than likely be a relationship power dynamics where the other person loves you less than you do. It’s awful to think that you have to chase another person to accept you. It’s just best to match the other person’s energy and fall back when they opt to be lazy. It’s not fair to lead a person who clearly likes you ALOT as well. It’s better to cut ties with the situation versus keeping up the charade. Just be good to a person who has the courage to approach you and utter this phrase. I hope this advice can be of help or at the very least have you ponder the topic. Here is the posed question and my response below:

“I believe that the person is trying to tell you that they have emotional feelings for you. They have opened up their heart to you and they just want you to stop blocking them from loving you. In order for them to speak what is on their heart, they must have picked up that you are receptive. If not, they were overwhelmed with what’s on the heart and felt compelled to let you know. If you are reserved with the offering, there is a reason for it. If you are open to it, it is your choice to accept it. Follow your intuition if you have a strong gut feeling to avoid the advance. Just because a person speaks these words does not mean they are about the words. You will only know if it is legit if they are consistent with their behavior and advances. I wish you much luck on your choice to move forward or dodge that person.”

Hello Everyone!

How are you spending your time on your Sunday evening!? I’m sorry to report that Monday and the new work grind is only a few hours away. I recorded, edited, and released my short story this past week on my time as I worked on the railroad into a podcast. I still need to work on the editing of the 3-Part podcast with my Cali union brother Brian Reyes. I have shared his photography website at the end of this post. My goal is to offer the new content this week. I need to just get a damn editor and get it over with quicker. For now, I will just stay a cheap bastard until further notice. When I do go with an editor, it will come from the website Fiverr. I decided to go look for some requested questions within my selection on my Quora profile. I have a constant flow of questions that pop up. I don’t think it is possible for me to catch up and answer them all. This topic that caught my eye was the subject of, “loving hard”. I kind of felt like I would respond to it quickly so I selected it. I’m sure I could have expanded on this topic and made into a 10,000 word paper. My goal is to try to be short and sweet with the advice. I can say that I loved hard (3) times in my life. Is that considered not enough? Too much? I had love and cared for the other men in my life. I just never allowed myself to go into that rabbit hole. Being a widow had a huge impact on my view on relationships. I know I feared loving hard and then spending many years picking myself off the floor so I could move on in life. As I have mentioned in other posts, I allowed myself to love hard with my ex-fiancé who I was with from 2014-2019. It took me between 12-18 months to dig myself out of the funk that came from forcing myself to walk away from a person that I loved hard. Despite that rollercoaster of emotions, I’d like to become immersed in a wonderful partnership if it crosses my path. I’m good with taking my time and getting to know the person before allowing myself to love hard. I don’t like to be clingy or emotional with anyone and don’t want it in return either. I technically felt this question to my soul when I read and responded to it. The same ex-fiancé would love for me to give him another chance. Instead, I will just be cordial and keep it moving. By the time the ejection button was pushed, it was a number of years and several chances were issued. No one should change the fiber of your being to where you feel always hurt and angry by the other person’s shitty choices. I wish the dude luck on his journey and the rest of his life. It feels good to be on the other side of the pain of a breakup. I’m certainly in no hurry to ever put myself into the web of a serial cheater in the future. The minute I see any of that nonsense, I’m out. I learned that I can cut the heart strings, go through the pain, and smile on the other side. I hope this advice can be of help or at the very least have you ponder the topic. Here is the posed question and my response below:

MY RESPONSE:

“My interpretation of a person who says that they “love hard” is that they push the boundaries of their heart by extending their emotions to another person. In addition to being drawn emotionally to another soul, this person brings a level of vulnerability that aids in the connection process. This person has a great level of emotional maturity since they are not allowing past bad experiences to hamper their ability to fully give themselves to another soul. The downside of loving a person hard is that it is difficult to pull the heart strings, dare I say rip them out, once connected. It can take a person some time to emotionally get over that person in the event of a break up. A person can become clinically depressed from a break up. Perhaps the greatest loves in a person’s life comes from walking in with a mind clear and the heart ready to freely share with a deserving human. Instead, many people walk the Earth with broken hearts and minds while trying to waste the time of another person. We must do the work on ourselves after a break up to heal. It’s unfair to not do the work and try to have a relationship with another person while introducing your own recipe of toxicity while expecting good results. Do the work to walk into a new relationship after finding the peace again that you lost while in the last relationship. Hopefully, the other person will also walk in with the same qualities that came from them healing. We can only hope to cross paths with a person who loves us hard while we return that with every fiber of our being. I wish you much luck.”

I did leaves in the yard, had the massage lady walk on my back, and 2-hours of Zumba so I can keep losing weight. This process is not fun and rather difficult. I have the metabolism of a turtle. I had been walking outside but the cold messes with my constant muscle spasms. Therefore, Zumba YouTube videos is what I will work on for now for the winter. I shared my latest short story that has been loaded up to my Construction Tales-Told By A Woman Kindle Vella Library on Amazon recently. The latest short story is entitled: #8 Surviving The 2008 Recession As A Construction Worker. I decided to write about the impact of the 2008 Recession on myself and my family. I managed to get caught up in this vicious cycle of unemployment that happened as a result of the economic recession. Boy, was that an emotionally draining part of my life! I wanted to share the story in an effort to make the reader aware of how deeply the construction industry was impacted by the actions on Wall Street. How are you spending your time on your Saturday morning!? I recorded my short story this week on my time as I worked on the railroad into a podcast and edited them. Because of the number of hours spent editing, this blog post is going to be short and sweet. Here is the two-part podcast episode that was released onto my +20 podcast platforms and YouTube. Brian shared with me that he submitted his photography for the very first time. I’m happy for him that he is working on his creative project. He called me to ask about some aspects of marketing my creative projects. For some reason, he thinks that I’m the guru of pimping out my work. In reality, I’ve been learning to keep my pimp hand strong since 2013. I’m quite certain that other people who promote their creative projects are way better than I am. I’m a work in progress so I appreciate any and all support for my audience. Since Brian said that he lives near Yosemite National Park, it makes sense that he would submit his work to this organization. According to the website, the Yosemite Renaissance has been around since 1983. It appears that a Prospectus exhibition entry can only happen if you are invited. That makes the exhibition even more honorable that the committee saw value in his work and extended the invitation. The deadline for submissions is up until December 31, 2021. I will have to follow up andsee how he made out with the competition. The competition samples on the website look amazing. There are $4,000 in cash prizes that will be awarded when the winner is announced by March of 2022. I see that the work submitted must be available for sale as a condition of submission. I couldn’t help but chuckle when I saw that the exhibition shakes down the artist by taking a 40% commission on the sale! Well, at least the entry fee for one submission is $25. Applicants are allowed to submit up to (8) pieces of art with an entry fee of $15/a piece. There will be a jury of panel judges that will be announced by January of 2022. The cool thing is that art submissions can possibly be showcased in a traveling art exhibit that would run through January of 2023. I just noticed that they have been accepting submissions ever since July 1, 2021. The most amusing part of reading the submission guidelines is that the artist must provide insurance for their own artwork. Despite the fact that the art exhibit, who typically have deep pockets and private donors, is making money off of showcasing the artist’s work, the individual artist is responsible for the exhibit handler’s care of the work during the traveling exhibit. Hello Everyone!

How are you spending your time on your Friday afternoon!? I recorded my short story this week on my time as I worked on the railroad into a podcast. I also scheduled to speak with fellow journeyman electrician, union brother and pal Brian Reyes about his career path out in California. I have him saved in my cell phone as, “Spanish Rice”. This was because we were working on a casino project and there was another Brian. Of course I called the other Brian, “white rice”. 😛 Brian was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Brian is keeping busy these days by signing the traveler book and working out of different union halls out in California for the past few years. Brian and I went to apprentice school around the same time so we would see each other in passing at school. Additionally, we have some similar friends that we have made in this business of construction. I really want to get a few of our mutual union brothers on the podcast to discuss some job stories. Some guys are rather shy which is an absolute surprise since they are not shy on the jobsite. It’s no surprise that I adore the hell out of Brian both personally and professionally on the job!! We have had many laughs over the years and are totally not afraid to break each other’s balls relentlessly! When I worked with the tools, we would go super savage on each other. I didn’t believe in treating me different since I considered myself as, “one of the guys”. If it was funny, even at the expense of myself, by all means say it. Brian was in my crew for a period of time during my last project where I worked with the tools. It’s memories like that where I reflect and miss working with the tools. Oftentimes, it is the co-workers on the job can make going to work a little more rewarding and fun. You mean to tell me that I get to break balls, have many laughs with our back and forth banter, pull some silly pranks on each other, and get paid to come in!? Sign me up buddy!! Yes, we were quite effective at getting work done since the morale was absolutely high and we enjoyed coming in to, “bang things out”. This is why we got away with many of our antics and pranks. I recently found out that during his free time, Brian is into working on his photography skills. Brian has even developed a website to showcase his photography. He told me that he welcomes suggestions to evolve his web presence. He was sharing that he absolutely loves the stunning California coastline as his muse. I’m genuinely happy for him that he is even entering competitions to showcase his photography. We are on the sidelines rooting for him! He’s even working on creating other projects, such as refrigerator magnets of photos that are laden with poetry. I’m looking forward to seeing his end results and even purchasing his work as gifts for friends and family. Therefore, hurry up and crank ’em out buddy since Christmas is coming! Short story #8 is entitled, “Surviving The 2008 Recession As A Construction Worker”. I am releasing short story #9 very shortly over the next few days. If anyone has read any of my other short stories, by all means let me know what you think? I have some irons in the fire as far as some more upcoming podcast guests. I have recorded a few podcast episodes this week that I still need to edit and release. I even have an acquaintance who is a practicing Satanist. I figure that this subject is rather mysterious and worth exploring. I have to send him/her my questions that I intend on asking him/her during the podcast episode. I’m curious as to his/her path from transitioning from being a Catholic to a Satanist. I am quite sure we will go down the rabbit hole with his/her path as to becoming a trans woman as well as the religious aspect. My goal is to be as respectful as possible. Melissa and I need to discuss our impending topic on our most embarrassing moments. It’s now time for me to work on some other tasks that need my attention. The latest short story is entitled: #8 Surviving The 2008 Recession As A Construction Worker. I decided to write about the impact of the 2008 Recession on myself and my family. I managed to get caught up in this vicious cycle of unemployment that happened as a result of the economic recession. Boy, was that an emotionally draining part of my life! I wanted to share the story in an effort to make the reader aware of how deeply the construction industry was impacted by the actions on Wall Street. This short story is now also available as two Verbally Disastrous podcast episodes.

Hello Everyone!

In a previous post, I shared my first (4) YouTube videos of the game. In this post, I’m sharing the last (10) YouTube videos. How are you spending your time on your Tuesday evening!? As I shared in my two previous posts, I spent part of the weekend up in Syracuse to watch my son and his team WIN the New York state football championship for their division!! It was super exciting to watch the game in the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University. It makes it even more special when one of your kids is on the field with his team. This road trip for the state championship game was a 4-hour ride from New York City. I left the city and grabbed my eldest son Tom after work in the suburbs. My eldest son Tom is ten years older than his little “big” brother and is an alumni Carmel Ram. I say little “big” brother since Johnny is at least 6′ foot, 2″ inches and a size 14 shoe. It is humorous when Tom inherits his little brother’s stuff that he can no longer fit into anymore. Tom was very much involved with his football practice and games since middle school. Going to Syracuse University to play in the Carrier Dome was an absolute dream for Tom that wasn’t fulfilled. Therefore, watching his brother be on the field was rewarding for him as well. I was thrilled to see my son come running to look for his brother and I as soon as he could at the end of the game. He was frustrated that he didn’t get to play as he wanted to do so. The good thing is that he is a junior so he has another year of football ahead of him. Due to the height of the bleachers, I could only hold his hand. As promised, I’m sharing the pictures and YouTube videos that I took while I was in the bleachers watching the game. I’m proud of my son for putting in the work to join the team and be a part of a winning varsity football team. I got feedback from other Carmel Ram alumni on Facebook who said that this year’s winning Carmel Rams football team made them happy that they won. They said it put them back to their youth and made them feel young again. It was a dream of theirs that was realized this year. The last time that Carmel High School won a division title was back in 1989. No one in the entire Putnam County went to state and won a championship ever! There is a parade honoring the football team on December 11, 2021 at @11AM. It is wonderful to see the entire town give them the recognition that they earned.

The team had to be at school at 7AM to get on the bus by 830AM so they could head upstate. They took the bus as a group and checked into a local hotel. The team practiced and watched film and feasted on pasta as a team. They played Buffalo Bennett high school at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, December 4, 2021 @3PM. It was broadcasted on CBS Sports and through a private network. I heard the tape of the game is available through one of those media platforms. As they have played in the past, they absolutely dominated AGAIN in their state championship win against Buffalo Bennett!! By the end of 4th quarter, the Carmel Rams stomped out the competition with a 42-12 major win!! I must say that the Carrier Dome field at Syracuse University is huge and impressive!!! The Buffalo Bennett team did put up a great fight and was their best competition to date! I believe Newburgh Free Academy was the second best team that they faced. During this final game, the Carmel Rams were the first team to score a touchdown and a kick. Additionally, their defensive line was effective on keeping Carmel from scoring even more! Carmel set the pace of the game in the very beginning. It didn’t seem like Carmel was doing too many amazing, fake plays as they usually do. The Buffalo Bennett players were bigger and more muscular than the Carmel players! That was a detail that I noticed in the beginning. However, it didn’t help them win the game. As a spectator, we were all very involved in the game. I can only imagine how hard it was for the opposing team to lose at the Carrier Dome!! Win or lose, what an honor it was for a high school team to play on a NCA Division #1 football field!! When we were out walking to the car, we heard some Buffalo Bennett players screaming about how they lost and how upset they were for not winning. From a distance, it sounded like a group of them were cursing out the coach. I was slightly humored by the absolute disgust in the teenage player’s exchange. This was another great game! I was thrilled for the impromptu road trip and absolutely excited for them no matter if they won or lost. I was even happier to see them win the state Division AA title at Syracuse University. The way they have been playing, this was going to be the outcome. We had heard that Bennett High School had been dominating just as hard as the Carmel Rams have been doing all season. I heard that the game is being broadcasted on local #12 news on television. I can’t say it enough that I am happy for my son that he was a part of this amazing experience. Johnny will get more play time next year as a senior. That is if he chooses to play again next year. There is tremendous value with learning how to work together as a team that translates well in the real world. Observing Johnny evolve with growth and become super excited to play on the field was great to witness over the past few months. There was much good that came from his participation with his varsity football team. That reason alone made sitting on the sidelines in the cold very much worth it.
